The Baroque palace was built in the years 1741-1753 in the village of Brody in the district of Żary. According to Wikipedia, the first palace was designed and built there by the architect Francko for the Promnitz family in the years 1670-1674. Seventy years later, in 1740, Count Henry Brühl paid 160,000 Saxony’s silver thalers the Watzdorf family for 2,000 hectares and ordered the construction of a new palace there. This task was carried out by the architect Jan Krzysztof Knöffel in the years 1741–1753.

In times of Count Henry von Brühl, garden which is a part of the palace was the largest baroque garden in Saxony. The park complex, with many ponds and a theater, was created by Dutch gardeners.

As you can see on the pictures below the stylish and elegant interiors of the facility emphasize its historic character. Palace offers 90 beds in 37 rooms, located in the left wing of the Palace and Park Complex.

Rooms are equipped with TV and Internet & are different and unique. 

The service, including manager Elżbieta & waitress Katarzyna was friendly, helpful and accommodating.

The Palace gives the opportunity to organize weddings, special and corporate events as well as conferences. The ballroom can accommodate 150 people. The other 3 rooms can accommodate up to 145 people.

The restaurant offers Polish and European cuisine as well as a rich and tasty breakfast.

After a tasty meal, you can visit sauna, jacuzzi or go on horse riding.

Very nice service and beautiful surroundings, breakfast on the courtyard in the sun, a pleasure, a beautiful large park. I was unlucky because I found a room with a tragic decor, mega depressing wallpapers. Bathrooms could be in better condition, WiFi weak, food so-so. Quite low prices

Awesome nature

The Wifi did not work for us , and we had to book by phone as well !  The wall paper in the room was pealing , the carpet was dirty , the bed spread was patched .  The shower cabinet leaked all over the floor !  The scrambled eggs were  quite good and the towels were quite good as well !

The  Wifi  does not work

I stayed here for a wedding and I have to say, it's certainly a unique venue. The hotel is situated in one of three buildings on the grounds of a former stately home/ palace. The second building has been transformed into an event venue (where the wedding was held).  The third (and grandest building) has yet to be renovated, but is still amazing to look at and adds a majestic atmosphere to the grounds. 

Most of the staff at the hotel speak very little English, but we all managed to communicate fairly well and everyone was very friendly and accommodating. 

The rooms seem to vary quite a bit. My friend stayed in a room on the first floor and it was grandly decorated. She had her own large bathroom with bath and hair dryer. She also had a refrigerator. I, on the other hand, was in a room on the second floor and I have to admit that compared to her room it seemed a bit like the servants' quarters. It wasn't decorated at all and it was quite basic. It must have been a family room because it had five single beds in it. I had my own bathroom with shower, but no hair dryer. Once I got used to being in a room by myself with five beds, I found the accommodations quite comfortable and clean, though the wifi service was spotty. Sometimes I had a signal, sometimes I didn't. 

We ate in the restaurant quite a bit and the food was fairly nice and not too expensive. Breakfast was buffet style with cereal, coffee, tea, scrambled eggs, sausages, bread, ham, and cheese.  I think you could also order off the menu too.

The hotel is in the small town of Brody, which has a few grocery stores, a couple shops, and a nice church. There is wooded parkland near the hotel which has numerous walking trails and a lake. There are stables nearby too. It's all very peaceful. The hotel also has a sauna and jacuzzi (although, I didn't use either, so I can't offer an opinion on them). 

If not for the wedding, I probably wouldn't stay at this hotel because I didn't have access to a car and it's quite far from train stations and public transport. Taxis are available, but not unless you book ahead. Even so, for those with a car who want to explore the area, I would recommend this hotel. It's in an interesting locale, it's relatively inexpensive, and the service was friendly.

A unique hotel in the Polish countryside

If you can't afford acoommodation in a real palace but want to feel at least a bit like a patrician, the former Brühl's Palace at Brody (Pförten) is there for you! The hospitality and generosity of the owners plus tasty cuisine make up for the downsides of the surroundings (still under reconstruction).
The rooms are clean and comfortable, providing the ambience of an old residence.
Situated only 8 km away from the Polish-German border, it's first and foremost an excellent home base for excursions in the neighbourhood (charming Bad Muskau, Neuzelle, etc.).
We spent there 10 days, travelling around, visiting both archtectural attractions and nature reserves and we can recommmend the Brody Palace to all those who like adventure and a touch of the times long gone or a blast from the past.

Affordable palace adventure

After booking a room with a double bed, on check in we were told that due to a wedding all double bed rooms were taken and we could only have a room with two single beds. The room itself was VERY old and didn't smell very pleasant. Soundproofing is terrible...We were given a room right next to the stairs and didn't get much sleep as the drunk wedding guests stumbled to their rooms during the night. Breakfast was OK... But way too many flies to the point where it's totally disgusting. Wouldn't stay there again.

Needs work

We stayed at the Palac for 3 nights. Pałac Brody is both a hotel and a restaurant. It is situated in an area where little accommodation nor restaurants can be found within some 50 Km. The setting in an old mansion is a romantic one, only being little disturbed in the early morning by the restoration activities in the adjacent main building. All needs a little more attention (the mini bar dissappeared from its cabinet, room cleaning / towel change only after an extra demand and to many flies around in the restaurant). Nevertheless both hotel and restaurant are very suitable for a few days stay and we will be back once more. Prices are very modest. In the weekend one should make reservations. During the week normally there is plenty room.
