This place is a bit like taken out of a fairy tale. On the outskirts of Braganca, surrounded by trees, peaceful, completely different experience comparing to standard hotels. We had one of the cottages, very big and clean. There was no breakfast option (we went after season) so I can't judge the food. The owners were lovely people, especially Madame, who speaks French and it doesn't really matter I could only say a few words in that language - we managed to communicate perfectly, and I got a big hug on the last day. oh, and the cats! So many cats everywhere :)

Different in so many ways

What a lovely stay… very good rooms, lovely garden with pool and on request they serve breakfast. The owners are so sweet and welcome you in their home like long lost friends. 
All rooms have their own entrance and come with a very spacious and modern bathroom. 
The city is nearby for an afternoon stroll and dinner.

Tranquility and hospitality

The hosts were charming, wi-fi speed was good, room was OK but the mattress was old and the lighting in the bedroom inadequate.  BUT, when we got back to the UK they deducted an extra 40 euro from my master card.  We paid in full using the card when we arrived (160 euro for the room for two nights and 40 euro for breakfasts).  The establishment refuses to acknowledge emails sent either directly or via booking.com.
I cannot therefore recommend this place.  I want my 40 euro back!

Double charged!

We were made very welcome by Madame, who speaks good French - her English-speaking husband was away. Not expecting to speak French, I struggled until the brain fog started to clear. In some ways this place is very special - our two-bedroom cottage was set in an orchard with figs, apples, walnuts, which Madame picked and gave us as she walked us round. But at the end of September our stone-built cottage was cold and so were we. Also, neither sat nav nor google maps could find the place easily - best to head to the Pousada and, leaving it on your left, drive on for a mile or so, with spectacular views of the castle, to reach the property on your right.
One thing the owners could easily fix is that the dining table had just one chair, the rest of the seats being hard and uncomfortable stools. There was nowhere to sit in comfort. We had assumed self-catering but Madame provided breakfast - an exceptional spread!

Different, in some ways special, but some issues

I was here to enter a sportive event so I needed a place that I could have my bike with me. This place was perfect, stayed on a little villa . You have a pool where you can relax and cool down from the summer heat. It's ran by the owners, who live on site so, if you need something they are there for you. 
The room has AC, a renewed bathroom with skylight, LCD TV, Wifi. Outside the room chairs, table, and a hammock to relax.
On the day of the sportive I would lose the breakfast since I had to leave at 8H, but after talking with the owners they agreed to start serving at 7:30H, how cool was that?!

Peaceful retreat

My pousada was overbooked. Found a very suitable alternative in the quinta da boa ventura, just up the road from the pousada. Excellent bed, very good breakfast with local specialities, the host and hostess are fluent in french, and the host also speaks english. Perfect pool outside, very clean room

Very good alternative for 4 star hotel

We came here for a family trip with our dog. All rooms are independent and clean. Sufficiently big for us. The owners are nice and invited us constantly to wine and porto. There is a tennis court too and a swimming pool. The swimming pool is not well located (I think) and this makes the water really cold. If I ever come back to Braganca I think I will repeat.

What a lovely location and beautifully crafted accommodation.  We took one of the Villas which are stylish, clean and quiet.  The owners are so pleasant  and everything provided at Breakfast is made right there.  The fruits, the breads and cakes and charm are all authentic.  And the little city of Braganca has history and architecture to share as well as some lovely restaurants and bars.  Not to be missed if you're looking for a 3 night stopover in northern Portugal.

Wonderful surprise - Braganca brilliance

We've stayed here for one night only and we found the place charming. Good and clean rooms, very warm and welcoming family of owners. Everything you need to stay in this area. I believe that if we would have more to do in the area we would stay for another night.
Highly recommended.
