The surf house is in the pedestrian centre of Tocha beach. There are private and shared rooms and a communal kitchen, lving room and garden area. We stayed in one of the ensuite double rooms. The room was comfortable and in good condition with a modern shower room. The whole house is decorated in a beach style with driftwood and recycled furniture, very bright and ideal for the area. For surfers there are board storage and drying facilities at the front and back of the house, the layout works really well.  The vibe in the house is very relaxed and friendly, there were a good range of ages and it is not a teenagers only party house, it was our first visit but other guests seemed to have become friends with Brian and Claudia and returned many times.

Tocha in September is very quiet, there is one restaurant, one bar (both good) but many of the beach front bars etc were closed or had very short hours. Most people cooked at the surfhouse and this worked well during our visit, there are minimarkets and an actual market with stalls in the village. If you were looking for a beach holiday and don't surf Tocha could be a bit limited (out of summar season) as it is a very small village surrounded by dunes and the sea is often too rough for small children, at the time we visited there was a distict channel with strong rip currents at the beach. For surfers on the other hand there are good breaks all along the coast, some of them nearly empty, it is a good option for uncrowded, good quality surf, and Brian, the owner, is an instructor who will provide advice, together with lessons and gear rental if required. There are also interesting trips out to towns in the area and walks. Several non surfers stayed while touring or walking in the area.

I really enjoyed my stay

Stayed with Brian and Claudia for 12 top days. They make you feel right at home and the hostel has everything you need to kick back and relax. Brian is a real pro and very enthusiastic and makes a lot of effort to find the good surf spots, good for beginners and experts.  Claudia's yoga sessions are really next level. The skills and fun of surf coach Tiarnan and the volunteer crew can also be mentioned. The BBQ with fresh fish right from the ocean was very tasty and cozy with the entire occupation of the hostel. In short .. this is a true little paradise where it is not touristy and very busy. For sure we will come back. Thanks for the awesome time with you guys. We really felt part of your family.

We immediately felt comfortable and were welcomed nicely in this sweet little very homely surf camp. The surf lessons were great because Brian always picked the beach with the best conditions for us! 
The camp was overall very clean and cozy, we have often cooked together with everyone and hung out. The rooms were also really cozy and the bathrooms were clean, modern and equipped with shampoo and all. 

We will definitely come back with pleasure. See ya! T&M


Amaaazing

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We felt very welcome there. The room and bathroom are both very comfortable and clean. The location is very close to a lovely beach. It is also close to a mini supermarket and restaurants. Everything you need within easy reach. I had a great time there!

I wish I could have stayed longer

Really welcoming hosts and lovely hostel! Couldn't have asked for more! Located centrally in the lovely village where there is all you could need. A bar, a couple shops and a couple cafes. The owner Brian is really helpful at giving advice on the best time and place to surf. We had an amazing stay.

Perfect

I travelled around Portugal for a month staying in various places and hostels, and ticket2surf was by far my favourite. The kindest and most welcoming staff, and a hostel that feels like a home.

It is clean and well equipped, and there is plenty of things to do and a brilliant atmosphere both in the hostel and in Praia da Tocha (especially in summer) despite it being a small town. I will certainly be back, and continue to recommend it to everyone I meet who is travelling to Portugal.

Perfect solo stay

The place is just amazing. Brian and Claudia are one of the most friendly people I have ever met. Once you stay here you feel like a member of the family. The surf lesson every day in the morning is the best way to begin a day. Brian is an experienced surfer and a great coach. Claudia is a yoga teacher and there are yoga lessons you can join. The village is not huge but you can find everything you need. Restaurant, cafe, barkey, grocery and bar are all within 10mins walk. If you want to find a place to escape from the city and try surfing, there are no other places better than Ticket2Surf.

Wonderful place to surf and meet new people

The place is a cosy hostel in a very nice village few meters from the beach. The hosts do everything to make you feel home and have a great surfing experience. The bathroom and kitchen are always kept super perfectly  clean. Brian made sure that we have the best surfing experience even if that meant driving us to different beaches due to weather conditions at 6 am in the morning. Claudia’s yoga lessons are absolutely perfect after an exhausting day of activity. 
I can recommend everyone to go there!

Wonderful place

This place is great, you get sucked up into the wonderfull community of Tocha. Very close to the beach, checked the waves every morning :) Brian, Claudia and the kids are wonderfull, lovely open people with a good heart. They welcome you and you feel right at home. I will definitely come back :)
