Just returned from the alagoa mar after a weeks break and it was just what the doctor ordered! Location is good, in between the old and new town (approx 10 min walk to each). Hotel room spacious and clean - however we were overlooking the main rd which was a bit noisy so if your a light sleeper maybe ask for a room overlooking the pool, staff very friendly and helpful, helped us organise transport to Vilamoura which is a must. Food options were not plentiful, more of a snack bar than anything else but it was all good quality. Loads of places to eat anyway in the old/new towns. Food was great, we never had a bad meal in any of the restaurants. Pool area clean and well maintained. Beach again about a 10 min walk away. Would definitely return here and recommend this hotel to anyone.

Perfect holiday

Great aparthotel to stay at!Very clean including pool ,great facilities!Close to the beach!Good price for this quality!Close to the main street where most of the nightlife is , but it's not much, so good thing is , just take the car over to the next down for some more nightlife,which is very close by!One bad point is that there was no wifi in the rooms, in this day and age , all hotels should have them!Still was positively surprised with the facilites!Recommend it!

Pleasant surprise 

We stayed here in September with friends perfect location rooms were very roomy and clean,staff were very friendly and helpful, especially reception and Tina who ran the bar, nothing was too much trouble,a bit noisy if your room over looks the main road but didn't bother us too much, Great supermarket nearby, would definitely stay again..

Good priced hotel

The Hotel is good located, only some minutes away from the beach and within 15 minutes walking distance to restaurants. There is enough space to park in front of the Hotel. Small pool, rooms okay, a small café beside the hotel, which is quite okay for breakfast. Reception not open on Sunday. Rather expensive for this kind of hotel - at least in July. Probably one of the ugliest hotels (old concrete block) on Algarve in front of the hotel. WLAN not in all rooms.

Altura has a long flat beach, for us the rocky part of the Algarve between Faro and Sagres is a much better choice.

We booked this apartment last minute and price was very reasonable for a family of 4. Positives: Apartment overlooking pool and only 5 minutes walk to a great beach and reasonable restaurants. Negative: beds fairly ordinary and if ur like us, u need a good nights sleep. Basically u pay for what u get.

Good location

I recently stayed here the staff are very nice and very helpful the lady in the bar works very hard she is always there this hotel is an ideal location in between old town and new town the rooms are spacious and cleaned every day the beds are ok the only downfall was that you had to pay for wi fi and it was only available down in reception the pool area was not very clean when we arrived the pool was not very clean I did speak to reception and it was cleaned up on arrival most of the sun beds were broken however during the week they did replace a few and brought new umbrellas out there is a hotel. Next to this one called the paladin this is identical and we saw they cleaned their pool area every day very well disinfected during our stay they only cleaned the pool area once I would say that this is more a three star than a four however having said all that we did enjoy our stay not enough ashtrays were left around the pool so people just disregarded there ends on the floor 

Not too bad

I stayed here in aug 2012 with a group of friends. Location perfect as it is centre point between strip and old town...pool area lovely and bar nice. Staff friendly.  A little dated apartment wise but good for price paid. an enjoyable Experience.
