When we arrived we met the hosting lady how could not speak English and told us that her husband would come down and talk to us. He never did, not once during the stay. Got a very bad welcome and communication from the host in general. 

I tried to text him regarding the Wi-Fi , because there is very bad connection in the room, but never got a response. The breakfast was very limited and small in quantity. 

The location was good just by the waterfalls and beach. 

We did not see anyone when we had to leave for the airport and it was very unclear what to to with the keys so we just left them in the door.

Fresh room bad service

My boyfriend and I stayed here for five nights, and it was great. The room and bathroom are small but were very clean and comfortable. A small breakfast was provided every morning and we had access to a fully equipped kitchen in case we wanted to cook. The location is fantastic, and our hosts were very nice and helpful! In conclusion, great value, location, and overall experience!

Beautiful experience!

Small room and even a smaller bathroom. Some rooms even need to share a bathroom. The lady of the house doesn't speak English but all the others do. Breakfast was ordinary nothing special. 
When the hurricane Lorenzo came they didn't give us much information so we decided to leave the island 1 day earlier. When we told them they said maybe better because otherwise you would be stuck on the island and in need to book a hotel. Not very friendly. The location was beautiful though. Conclusion next time we will go for airbnb for better price and more room.

Not worth the money

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights. The best thing about it was the location. It simply can't be beat! Faja Grande is the most beautiful area of Flores and it was so convenient for hiking and driving to be staying in the town. What we got was very good for the price. Breakfasts were delicious and always included homemade yogurt and jams. The bed was hard, but was made each day. The downsides were very thin walls so that we could hear everyone talking very loudly from our room, and the hostess smokes heavily in the doorway to the hall. We are not smokers, so the smell that filtered into our room really bothered us. All in all, it was a good experience. 

Best Location 

If i would go to Flores again, I would definitely like to stay in Residencia Mateus again. Clean rooms, very nice people, space for parking, beautiful mountain view, diverse and tasty breakfast. Top of the breakfast was homemade yogurt made by girl from the house.  in addition, the hotel is very close to restaurant and market. Our bathroom is extremely tiny, but we didn't need bigger one. Another negative was that wifi was not working.

Waking up to chirping birds, and having breakfast that includes homemade marmalade while having a view of waterfalls in the distance make this an idyllic place to be in Flores if not anywhere. Poço de Bacalhau is only a couple minutes away, and Poço da Ribeira do Ferreiro is only a pleasant 45 minute trek away. Or you can do the beautiful trek to Ponta Delgado. The room was cozy and clean, and though there's no lunch or dinner several nice restaurants are in town. Above all the owners are super friendly and helpful.

Amazingly tranquil and idyllic

Our room was tidy and the people where great. They really represent the azorean people: friendly, relaxed,  appreciative to what they have and they love their island! Close to one of the waterfalls and one of two natural pools of the island
