The cab driver who dropped us off winced when we told him where we were staying and said “That place is terrible, I can’t believe they get away with it!” We can’t either! As noted on countless other reviews across several platforms, Casa Atlantida offers a wildly overpriced basic room that is hot and stuffy and full of cockroaches and ants. When we contacted the local caretaker we were told that this is “normal” although we have spent 2 weeks traveling around the Azores and have not seen this version of “normal” elsewhere. The building is also next to a public picnic area that has large, loud gatherings late into the evening so it doesn’t seem private or quiet. As noted elsewhere, the curtains are all sheer, so you can see everything inside all of the units. When we arrived we saw our fully naked neighbor, just trying to enjoy his vacation inside what he assumed was a private room, but actually everyone can see right through the curtains from the outside, in the evening. On top of all of this, they have the gall to charge 25 Euros PER PERSON upon arrival as a fee, although no one could explain what the fee is for. Was is for the giant dead cockroach in the middle of our kitchen? For the hot, airless room that you will toss and turn in? Please take our advice and stay anywhere but Casa Atlantida!

STAY ANYWHERE ELSE!

Is a CAZA with a very poor level of maintenance. Water intrusion, walls are not impervious to moisture, difficulty in heating the water for 2 existing showers in the same casa and this is not due to improper use, repeated requests to repair during the stay of a creaking door with unpleasant noise and there was a feeling we should hold A close maintenance man, apart from the fact that we waited for one case to be renovated until the rest of our family arrived.

Basic accommodation but with the best view!! We staid at Ap1 with 3 bedrooms; basic but very clean. Within a walking distance (3 minutes) to a beautiful  natural pool! Loved it and we'll be back for a longer stay!

First time I visited Flores island was 7yrs ago, on this trip I met the one that was to become my future husband.
Years after, September 2019 we are celebrating our honey moon in the place that made us fall in love, Faja Grande Das Flores.
Casa Atlantida played a major role in this, it’s location right in the center of the vila with its stunning view of the most occidental sunset in Europe gave it an extra of magic and charm. 
We strongly recommend it and we’re looking forward to our next visit at Casa Atlantida.

Honey moon at Casa Atlantida

The house had not been properly cleaned. There was human and cat (or dog) hair all over. We had to go to the closest market and buy cleaning material and clean the house ourselves. Most light bulbs were fused and we had to replace them. The flush toilet was broken. The double bed extremely thin (only 140 cm large). The little tiny room was stuffed with an extra child bed which we asked to be removed but never was. The house lacks closets.  Bed sheets are in synthetic. 
Last but not least, since we paid a 10% fee for cleaining (€ 15/night) we were expecting daily cleaning. If there is no daily cleaning then the cleaning fee should be per stay and not per night.

Not Clean - No comfort.

This room is very big: it has a sleeping room and very large living room with a kitchen. But its main feature is the location; very close (20 meters) to the access to the old port where we can swim in a natural protected swimming pool and the mountains surrounding the Faja are mysterious and very dramatic. Faja Grande is in my opinion the place to stay in Flores and Casa Atlantida definitely a place to consider staying.
