This is a guesthouse that will appeal to hipsters but lacks a few practicalities that travellers with young children need. 

It’s in an old building and they have retained the old features and they are quirky - the light switches are outside the rooms, there is no air conditioning, the bathroom is shared and the doors are thin so noise travels. I didn’t sleep well being a light sleeper. To be fair other guests were not noisy. 

It’s spotlessly clean, and Silvia was a helpful host and we were served breakfast on the terrace and were given lots of care and attention. This almost made up for the bad nights sleep.

We paid 200 for 1 night - which was somewhat expensive.  We only stayed on night - arriving late in Faro there were not a lot of options but other guests might find it less expensive at other times. 

I would not recommend it for families for the above reasons but individuals or couples might like the quirky, interesting setting. 

Authentic hipster guesthouse

I had an absolutely wonderful stay. 
The guesthouse is very homely, cute little kitchen and cool bathroom, very simple but very cool. The bedrooms are equipped with a pretty powerful freestanding fan, I noticed that in a previous review someone said they were too hot...I’m pretty sure that if you ask, Joanna will organise another one right away to cool you down. 

I didn’t arrive until gone 10, but this wasn’t a problem and I was met outside the guesthouse and shown my room, and also where to go for breakfast.

Breakfast is at Madalena a two minute walk away. Huge bowl of fruit and fresh juice :) or a smoothie bowl and a cappuccino! 

The guesthouse is two mins from the train station, the bus station and the only five minutes from the port to catch the speedboat over the the islands for the day. 

If you need a central location, with a homely feel and lovely hosts then I would absolutely recommend staying here.

Home away from Home 

I highly recommend this lovely guesthouse right in the centre of Faro. Rui and Joanna made us extremely welcome and provided great tourist advice and information that allowed us to experience Faro to the fullest. The decor is beautiful ... clean, minimal and chic. And also very clean. The terrace is a lovely outdoor space, we often sat out there enjoying a glass of wine. Breakfast at Madelena is delicious, in fact all the food is good, as well as the drinks in the evening. Lovely cafe come bar to relax and listen to good music.

Lovely, stylish guesthouse 

The location is just few steps away from the train station of Faro.
The guesthouse is nicely decorated, the shared bathroom is spacious, clean and quite comfortable. There is a kitchen with a fridge, terrace and living room also. 

We stayed in family room for 4 people. The weather was quite hot during our stay and since there is no A.C. the room and the house was also quite hot. Actually I had a hard time sleeping. The fan in the room was not adequate. 

You need to go to a cafe house for the breakfast which is few steps from the house. It's a typical Spanish and Portugal kind of breakfast including some cheese, juice and fruits. It was not my kind of breakfast.

The guesthouse is overall a bit expensive considering the comfort and breakfast and  rate of 8.9.

In the meantime it the location is wrongly pinned in booking map and it was very difficult to find the place under the hot sun in the first place. The owner said she informed booking but I don't know if they're corrected.

Also the owner said after my poor review on booking that they'd help if I had told my problems when I was there. Obviously they care customer reviews which is nice and hope they'd improve soon. I wish I had a better time.

Nice decoration but not so comfortable

We stayed just one night at this lovely placed an regretted immediately that we haven't planed a longer stay in Faro and at Porta Doza. Really nice Guesthouse which has a really nice atmosphere. The owners are really friendly and charming. Breakfast is served in a bar nearby but the food is definitely worth the 2min walk. The granola bowls with fresh made smoothies are amazing.

Amazing Guesthouse

we had a double room with two single beds at the front of the house.  The location of the b and b is superb, literally two mins away from the main centre.  Didn't feel like we were in a guest house, felt like your own special home. The hosts rui and Joana were welcoming, showed us where to go when we arrived so we got our bearings.
Breakfast is served at the Madelena café a very short stroll away.  Filling, fresh and very healthy, fresh smoothie/homemade granola followed by toast, cheese, walnuts and honey and coffee.  Excellent start to the day. 
 My only suggestion would be a mirror in the room as there is only one shared bathroom and the only mirror is in there, would be helpful to have one in your own room so you can get ready separately.  There was an outside shower/toilet but no door, think this may have broken due to strong winds a couple of days before.
Shower is powerful, plenty of hot water, flannels and toiletries were provided.  Separate sitting room to use and kitchen with an honesty box  for fresh fruit, drinks hot and cold. Let us check out at 4 even though they had guests later.  So accommodating, would definitely return if we came back to faro.
