We were supposed to stay at the Windmill at the beginning of September and booked it via airbnb. 
First off, the communication with the hosts were terrible. Even though they provided us with the instructions, it was not easy to get into the property. The road was closed and there's no other access. We called the manager and she told us she was there a long time ago and doesn't remember the area so cannot help us with the directions. Amazing, right? Luckily, we found a police officer and he helped us.
Secondly, and this probably the only positive thing about the place. The area is very beautiful. The hydrangea covered road and the ocean view are awesome as well as the mill from the outside. However, the mill surrounding is not private at all. There're several other apartments in the area and all people staying there come to the mill every time to take some pictures. Moreover, even locals sometimes come there. So you cannot feel safe and private there. 
Here we are approaching the most interesting part which is sad at the same time. The mill inside looks decent (not as pictured, but close to it- I guess pictures were taken more than 10 years ago). The first thing you feel when you enter is an awful super concentrated mildew/mold smell. The wood walls are covered with black mold, the bathroom flooring is damaged, and the upstairs wood walls are destroyed by mold and water.  All 3 AC units were covered in mold as well. 
We opened as many windows as we could to get rid of the smell, but it didn't help. We found another hotel 20 min away (which was not easy since it was Sunday evening and almost everything was booked) and left as soon as we can.
I cannot understand all that positive reviews. Especially, the recent ones. Don't those people care about their health at all? Do they just care about their followers and nice pictures? I wish we would know the ugly truth about this place before we paid more than $600 for 2 nights that we eventually spent in another hotel.
To sum up- AVOID THIS PLACE AT ANY COST!!!

HEALTH HAZARD: Black mold

WOW!  Staying here was a fabulous start to our Azores experience.  The location is good, the views are stunning, and the windmill was much more comfortable than we thought it would be.  The bed was superb, shower was great, and the basket stuffed full of goodies every morning was over the top.  The only small issues are that towels stayed very wet for the three days (nothing dried) and we would have benefitted from instructions for using a few of the appliances.

WOW!

There are 3 rentals in this property, the Windmill, a modern conversion and an older rustic property.  We stayed in the latter.  I cannot fault the attention to detail and how amazing the gardens were.  I'm sure with a pair of binoculars and a bit of patience you would see whales from this spot - there is a whale spotting point 5 minutes away.

Feteiras is a little remote with nothing in walking distance.  Don't consider hiring a larger rental car, you don't need it for the island and parking is already tight at the property.  Had we stayed in the modern conversion I would have given this a 5* review.  Our rustic house was very high end, 2 fabulous bathrooms and fitted kitchen but the living area has no windows, which is such a shame given the position, but old properties are like that,  and the seating could be more comfortable.  The views from the bedroom were to die for.  We had a look round both other properties and they were lovely.  The mill is amazing for those who can cope with a lot of stairs.  I'd certainly have loved to stay there 20 years ago.

The modern conversion had a lovely balcony which we'd have spent a lot of time on had we been in that one.  

You can tell that the heart and soul of the owners have gone into this place.

Stunning position.

Well... I love the Azores and São Miguel island but this place is absolutely from another world.
This was the second time I stayed there.
You should stay in the mill! It’s something unforgettable.
Seafront, surrounded by vegetation (so you’re between blue, green and the yellow/red of the sunset).
Very well decorated!!! At the ground floor you’ll find the kitchen and dining/living room. One floor up, a very nice bathroom. But the cherry on top is at the second floor: the bedroom. Breathtaking. 360 degrees of windows!!! It’s heaven!
I’m sure I’ll be back and I want to thank to Maria (the owner) for her taste, kindness and warm welcome!

One of the most spectacular places I ever stayed

We stayed in the Moinho for 3 nights. It certainly is the most romantic place to stay in the whole Island. The mill by itself is amazing but the view is spectacular. I would not hesitate to book it again when i go back to Sao Miguel.

Romantic

This beautiful place was a home from home in a gorgeous setting. We stayed in four different hotels on Sao Miguel in September this year and this was our favourite. Although not a hotel as such, we loved being able to cater for ourselves and the kitchen was very well equipped. The supermarket is a five-minute drive away and open late (c7pm). Maria gave us a very warm and smiley welcome, and had left lots of goodies for us too including bread, fruit, tea & coffee and cheese. We stayed in the old mill cottage which was charming and very comfortable, with ample seating areas both indoors and out, excellent bathrooms and its own tame rabbit! The gardens were delightful and the views stunning. The sun setting behind the windmill is not to be missed! Our only grumble is that we would have liked to stay longer...Two nights were not enough. Highly recommended.

A fabulous place to stay

Maria was so nice to squeeze us in for a short term night in January 2017. We had the whole Moinho and surrounding to ourselves and really enjoyed the beautiful views from this very special place. Seeing the sun go up and down from here is unbelievable. She even offered a baby bed for our daughter and had some breakfast stuff ready and was open for all our questions at all times. Definitely recommend this special place. The moinho was equipped with all we needed and had a high standard. Thanks again, Maria!
