Casa das Castas is an amazing place to stay. The property is amazing, very beautiful and very well decorated. The rooms are very nice and  comfortable, and I must highlight the matress and the pillows: very, very good. Also worth highlighting is the breakfast!!!
The owners are really nice and always ready to provide assistance, should you require it; they also offer very good advice on what to see/do in this fantastic region.
If you're looking for a fantastic place to stay and relax, and do ocasional wine tasting, this is the place to go.

Beautiful stay!

This property is in a remote location without any local amenities. Be prepared to pay at least 50 euros per couple for an evening meal that was average and be charged extra to pay the staff to stay on and cook it. Nice rooms and swimming pool didn't make up for the for the feeling that we were being squeezed for as much as was possible when checking out. Not a pleasant experience as the owners treated us with total disrespect, including hidden charges that were not explained, promise of early breakfast for which we were charged and paid for never materialised.

We booked to stay here for my mum's wedding it is very beautiful and the 2 young girls that worked for the owners were very pleasant. Now for the real truth about this place the owners are con artists they will try and charge you for anything they possibly can! We were quoted a price per room and on the last day they tried to charge us £100 extra per room for 'splashing in the pool,having drinks by the pool,using there cutlery, putting my babies milk in there fridge,children running up the stairs' there is more but it could go on forever if I don't stop now. Absolutely ridiculous! Don't be fooled into thinking these owners are nice because all they want is too squeeze every penny from you. I would never stay here again and definately would NOT recommend anyone to stay here!

Awful! Do not stay here...

I wouldn't even rate this place with one star but unfortunately you have to put a minimum of one!!
Our experience was awful and I wouldn't stay again even if it was free! At the start the owners where lovely to your face and happy to help with everything, little did we know at the time everything they where happy to help you with came at a price! Every last mortal thing we did or asked for we got charged for. They "supposedly" had a fridge we could use outside to store our baby's bottle and our fresh waster, this however wasn't true. There was no fridge and we then got charged for using their kitchen fridge. There was also a bbq we could use, this also came at a cost! We had to pay for utensils and hire of the table and chairs, bare in mind none of this was made clear to us until 11:30pm the night before we was going to leave. We all got hit with an extra €100 per room and told that everything we had used or touched they wanted paying for!!
These absolutely crazy people honestly expected us to be able live for 5 days without anything because it seems everything we did we got charged for! This was supposed to be one of the most special days of my family's life and these corrupt, money grabbing thieves ruined it! 
What really upsets me is that we was never made aware of these charges and the only thing we knew we had to pay for, we had to ask for the price for 4 nights until they eventually plucked an extortionate price out of the top of their heads!

All in all this is a beautiful little village and the two young woman working there are very very friendly and kind! But the price and owners have no respect for anyone apart from themselves!!

PLEASE IF YOU HAVE ANY SENSE DO NOT STAY HERE AS YOU WILL BE ROBBED WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING ABOUT IT!!!!

Awful experience

Just returned from this 'hotel' and very disappointed with the treatment we received, the description say 'kid friendly' they charged us extra on our bill for kids jumping in the pool? Also we were promised a fridge outside as they told us if we wanted drinks in the day we could put drinks in it, we didn't get the fridge so to keep the drinks cool we had to put the bottles of water in the pool to try and cool them, (especially as the children needed cold drinks)we were also charged extra for that??? We were charged also for keeping baby milk in the fridge??? Don't believe they have a bar because they do not have one and even though they told us we could bring our own beers they also charge you for that too, the place is in the middle of a small village so if you need anything you have to drive to even buy a bottle of water, and we were even charged for pouring our own water over our own salad?? At the end of our stay all these extras came to another 100 euros per room, so 700 euros added to the bill for ridiculous reasons
One more thing is all the rooms have clear glass bathroom doors, so absolutely no privacy and also dangerous as not visibility whether it's open or closed so very easy to walk into 
My advice is, if you are English be very careful if you visit this hotel, we was just a normal small group of family and friends who was there for a very special wedding day and these people who run this place ruined what should have been a great last day with the demands for more money
I will be returning to Portugal but definitely not to this hotel, the one star review I have given is for the two lovely girls that worked very hard there
