I had a nice and quiet stay at the guesthouse Maria Mar. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy the nature and beaches around. The guesthouse is small and therefore there is not a lot of noise. They owner Ana and Daniel also offer surf lessons which was an incredible experience! If you’re not into so much action you can take the bike to see the rice fields or watch the sunset at the beach. Thank you so much for this stay! 

Quiet and relaxing stay

It's very well located, the facilities are great, it has a lovely swimming pool to cool off, a very well equipped kitchen and a huge living room where you can meet more people and enjoy your leisure time, undoubtedly the best guesthouse I've ever been to, complete with everything you need and quite cheap for everything it offers, highly recommended.

Paradise is a paradise.

The house is very clean and warm. Besides, the owners and young women working there were simply adorable, they helped us with every little hassle and were very attentive. We slept one night in the bedroom, we were alone and had a great night out comfortably. Besides, we had to leave at dawn the next day and a breakfast was waiting for us in the fridge with coffee, which is normally served between 8:30 and 10:30. We highly recommend this place, a place to relax and be well!

A warm welcome and impeccable home

It is difficult to overstate how wonderful my experience at Maria Mar Guest House was; truly one of the most enjoyable vacation stays I have had.  First, communication leading to my stay, as well as throughout, was excellent, and they even helped me plan how to get there, providing me with public transportation info that I had difficulty finding on my own.  The house itself is absolutely beautiful; a large garden/patio, a great kitchen, huge living/dining room, and very comfortable beds to sleep in.  Daily breakfast is off the charts, and far exceeded any expectations.  Then there's the surrounding environment; a very peaceful, tranquil terrain with lots to explore; rice fields, beaches, dunes, cliffs, and a the enchantment of Melides village itself.  For me personally, it was a small paradise, and I can't wait to go back.

Definitely easier to get there by car, but certainly possible by public transportation as well; just takes a little extra planning.

We had an absolutely incredible stay at the Maria Mar Surf & Guest House over the month of May. It's only a quick bike ride to Melides Beach which is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever visited! There are also some really nice bike tracks through the rice fields, which are right behind the property. The Guest House itself is beautifully decorated and very clean and tidy. The daily breakfast was delicious! The owners, Ana and Daniel, are fantastic people and did everything they could to make our stay even more enjoyable. The ever transported us to Carvalhal Beach in their surf van for the daily surf lessons. Again, this was one of the most beautiful beaches we had ever seen and our surfing improved a lot with the help of Ana, Daniel and Luis at the surf school. Thank you so much for an incredible stay! We miss Melides already and we can't wait to visit again when we are next in Portugal :)

Fantastic stay in a beautiful location!

I loved my stay here. The owners are very kind and generous and the guest house has a family-social vibe. So it was great for me since I was traveling alone. Beautiful outdoor area, everything was clean. And the breakfast was one of the best I have ever had!

Fantastic place

Maria Mar Surf & Guest House is like an oasis with wild pomogranates and tangerins growing in the garden. You can even see the ocean from here. The loveliest dog I have ever met, Simao, is guarding the house. It is a very clean house with a stylish and unique decor ~ perfect for sea life lovers. There is also a spacious kitchen where you can cook your own meals. In the morning a fresh breakfast is served with delicious fresh local bread and fresh fruit. 
 Around the corner, you will find yourself in vast rice fields, that are also a meeting place for birds - you can watch them fly into the sunset and the rising moon.
With a bike, which you can rent at the guest house you easily get around, to town (the shops) or to the beach (ca.20 min ride to Melides beach).
 There is also a lagoon next to the ocean where you can SUP or swim. If you wish to SUP or to surf you can book lessons or rent the equipment with Ana and Daniel, who are the owners of the house and also run a surf school called Surf in Comporta. 
They are amazing surf teachers and a very hospitable, warm hearted and fun couple. 
That time I did SUP on the lagoon I was blessed and lucky enough to see flamingos flying over our heads for the first time! The nature is just mindblowing around there and along the coast - with its deserted endless beaches, sand dunes and golden cliffs.

September in Alentejo

We have only the best memories of Maria Mar!!! The accommodation is great and the hosts are just great. All wishes were fulfilled and we felt very well. Especially Simeo the watch dog welcomed us every time. Unfortunately we were too short there! But we will be back with more time. I think we already have a goal for next year!

A Wonderful Time in Portugal

The reception is fabulous, the place is very nice and cocooning with a swimming pool to cool off and the hosts are the kindest on earth. I absolutely recommend that you feel at home!! plus you have a very good breakfast and you are really not far from very beautiful beaches..

My little sister and I wanted to spend a few days on the beach after our visit to Lisbon and we went on a little adventure.I wasn't sure if choosing a Surf House would be the best thing because I thought there would be a lot of people and noise, but our pleasant surprise was to find this beautiful and quiet little house where we could relax.The house is super decorated, has a spacious living room, a large kitchen and 2 bathrooms.Everything is impeccably clean (both the house and the bedding, all new).Ana prepares the breakfast that we would meet in the morning in a large place where there was no shortage of table: fresh fruit, snacks, cheese, pancakes, yogurt, etc.
