Not really impressing unfortunately . The Cevice was really nice, but the octopus we had was more like gum.  Service was good. Don’t sit too close to the open kitchen because of the smell. Otherwise nice location. But after all: not recommended.

Okay, but maybe not

An unpretentious small restaurant in a simple setting on Rua du Duque,which it shares with several  establishments ,not surprisingly also named Duque with small variations in name and number ( ours is No.5 ).
We went for dinner on a friend’s recommendation,without a reservation which is a norm in Lisbon,and were immediately ushered to a well placed table for four at the back despite our being only two.
It was a Portuguese restaurant , with emphasis on fish and varied fish, which were all very fresh and presented with a flourish. The owner himself assisted us with the choice of wine and main courses and as we waited in eager anticipation the place filled up quickly with locals and tourists of various nationalities.The popularity of the place and the personal touch given is vouched for by the small queue which formed outside for vacant tables.
The food as noted elsewhere was excellent and the service delivered courteously and efficiently in a convivial atmosphere. The prices shown were reasonable and easy on the pocket for the standards set.
The tip we gave reflected our satisfaction with the dining experience.
The Duque ( read Duke) stands out on a street of restaurants ,trying to emulate them, as the first among equals.

FIRST AMONG EQUALS

Location very good, central, but entrance near dodgy club. This is a HOSTEL, extremely basic, not that clean, never had towels changed or cleaning of any kind, a lady who checked me in spoke only Portuguese and asked for passport, money and showed me room was floor above. I did not feel any friendliness at all from the other person on reception duty. Room was an under the stairs broom cupboard with a tiny window towards the courtyard. Felt quite claustrophobic and uncomfortable, even though I only slept and washed there. One bathroom shared between 5 or 6 rooms. Plastic curtain hanging for dear life and an all over state of disrepair. Staircase all the way through is very steep. There is no "lounge where the guests can relax"!!! I do not recommend, even if price is good.

A let down, not a guesthouse, in a great location!

My room was very basic, just a bed, bedside table and sink about what you would expect for the price. One window over looking the street with a drape that dis not block out the light from the street. The room was very clean. 

There is no elevator and rooms are up at least two flights of narrow and steep stairs so not great with a lot of luggage.

My first stay at this hotel years ago I had an inside, very quiet room. Two years ago I had a street front room and there was noise as the bars closed. This year there is now a bar directly below the windows with lots of people drinking in the street. Not suggested if you are at all sensitive to street noise.

The hotel is supposed to have wifi, but I was unable to get any connection while I was there.

Clean, cheap, but very noisy 

Friendly but not english speaking woman awated me and showed me my single room. It was small, under the stairs and you kind of hear a lot from inside but outside of the house. The bed was clean, the sink and the one bathroom not. 
Wifi worked well, matras ok, and location is great. Weird enough i was not able to go out and come back without waking her as i had no key for the front door! 

I don't mind to sleep here for such a price, but i am sure a lot of others would.

Not the best experience (but cheap)

The spot is perfect - everything within walking distance. Owners - very friendly and helpful. Place is clean. Make sure to get to the hostel from Rua Nova da Trinidade (Baixa-Chiado metro station), to avoid steps from Rossio :) The washbasin in the room. The shared bathroom is basic, but clean and OK.
My single room was very, very tiny, not small - tiny. With no closet, no chair, with three hooks and a little table (Ikea 50x50). The size of the room is not that important, but if you travel for more than 2 days, you have some more stuff and no place to put it. And the steps! It's nothing to complain about, cause this is how the building is done, but you need to know that - those steps are very, very steep and climbing on the third floor (or even higher) with a heavy bag - this is something! And if you go out for some imperial and going back to the Duque a little tipsy - those steps might literally kill you, but this is your responsibility, yes? :) One thing that I don't like is that you have to ring the bell every time you come to the hostel. It's a bit embarrassing and not nice when you go back at night and you wake up the receptionist.

If you get a good promo for the price - it's worthy, but if you are even a bit picky - try different
