We stayed in a one bedroom apartment rather than the B&B. We experienced extremely poor communication with regards to how to locate the apartment. We were unable to find where to check in and therefore called the hotel. We were then directed to the apartment by confusing what's app messages which took us to another B&B?!? We spent over an hour making calls and searching, whilst lugging heavy suitcases up steep cobbled streets. In the end the owner of the apartment was sent out to find us. Unfortunately, this dampened our initial experience. We also felt we had no one to advise us about the area as we thought we would need to go to the B&B to check in. (We never saw it or the owner) It all felt very unorganised. The apartment itself was spacious and reasonably comfortable - if a little dark. It was up 2 flights of steep narrow stairs and in a noisy location as situated above a late night cafe / bar. Not an ideal location for us to be honest. Not sure if the B&B would of been better but we won't be returning to stay in the apartment.

Poor communication for locating the apartment

We had booked this "bed & breakfast" throught booking.com bur the place ended up being an apartment with no one to assist us or living in the building. 

When we arrived at the building, no one answered so we had to make an international call to speak to someone. They asked us to wait. 20 minutes later a man showed up, a friend of the family apparently, and informed us the apartment (??) was located at another address. 10 minutes later we discovered instead of a room in the bed & breakfaqt we booked, we had an apartment like air bnb.... We asked to speak to the owner, we have been told he was in Marocco so he couldn t help us. Instead, we spoke to "her assistant", she said she will come but 1 hour after she informed us by whatsapp she was  "stuck in the trafic". What a coincidence !
The apartment was big, clean and OK. But we did not choose to go throught air bb and location we has chosen was not what we had at the end ! 
No one informed us for the breakfast we had paid in our reservation, so we had to use whatsapp to communucate again with the assistant. 
We are use to travel so we manage the situation and the inconvenience, but if It were for people choosing a bed & beeakfast to get advices, to meet with the local owner, the disappointment would be big. 


Not an Bed &breakfast but an Air bnb apartment + false address

We have never been in such a place like this, our room looked like in 4* hotel. There was common room where you can sit and relax and kitchen also. There was no full time reception, so you have to remember about it. It could be hard to find the building's entrance cause doors look like... typical doors, and there was any extra information on it. Breakfast was served in cafe next door to entrance - nice place, good breakfast. Very good location, a few minutes to river Tagus and tram, metro and railway station from where you can take direct train to Cascais and ocean beaches. Good value compare to quality.comapring the quality.

Amazing place for reasonable price

Fab hotel,  well presented near the River and restaurants. Breakfast at the Mezzanine next door.  All staff really friendly and happy. Well presented, I loved the decor and size of the rooms. Would go back. Photos don't do it justice. 

Old Town Lisbon

A wonderful, central location with very comfortable, large and extremely-stylish rooms/suites. Only a few minutes walk from the metro and fewer from the Time Out Market and either a funicular-ride to a tourist centre; a walk uphill for spectacular views' or down to the river for a stroll to the city centre. First-rate continental breakfasts in the next-door facility! Many good restaurants and bars nearby.

Bathrooms are shared but they are spotless with showers (and even one with a sauna bath) and there are plenty of them. There is even a (shared) kitchen facility.

My only caution would be to make sure you book a room at the rear of the building if staying at a weekend. Otherwise you might have noisy and sleepless nights on Friday and Saturday. This is why I have marked a 4 rather than a 5

Comfortable in a great location with glorious quirky decoration but beware the noise
