Great room accommodation-had two rooms, good breakfast options, clean facilities, perfect view of nearby island and wonderful hosts.
Had free parking for our car rental.
Walking distance to grocery store.
Wonderful to hear about the startup by the owner.

Great location and hospitality

Our group of four adults (two couples) spent 4 nights in a 2-bedroom unit (Apt. A4).  It was pretty spacious, with a decent kitchenette, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and two balconies (one with water views, the other with a partial view of Mount Pico). We had a few maintenance issues with loud bathroom fans and burned out lightbulbs in the bathroom, but nothing major. The breakfast buffet had hot and cold options (eggs, bacon, cheeses, cold cuts, cake, cereal, yogurt and fruit), plus coffee, tea and juice. Overall a good, filling breakfast.  Also, guests at breakfast can sit indoors, outdoors or on an enclosed porch overlooking the sea.


Comfortable apartment, quiet but walkable to town

WE had a wonderful time staying at Villa Madalena.  The accommodations are first class.  The staff are friendly and helpful.  Location is prime with the best views of Pico Mountain and Faial.  Grocery store close by and walking distance to city central.  We will never stay anywhere else while in Madalena.

Wonderful experience

Clean and tidy with a lovely breakfast included. The location is great and we had a fabulous view every evening. We were in Studio 1 and personally we found the bed too firm to sleep well. The lockable room is no use as the door does not actually fit the frame (there is no safe for valuables) so cannot be closed let alone locked. It was also noisy with chickens outside, dogs barking all night and building work next door. We did not book direct so received no key information and not sure if we met a manager or not.

Very pleasant

Fabulous place in Madalena. Large, clean, beautiful room with view of sea and town. Free parking; supermarket next door; and short walk into CBD. Woman running the place could not be more accommodating. I rented a car, but if you were taking a taxi, everybody knows this place. The grounds are beautiful, too, despite construction going on next door. With supermarket next door, would have been nice to have small refrigerator for cheese, snacks.

Top stay in Madalena for amenities, CBD access

A modern newly built complex  close to town and with fabulous views.
We had been upgraded to a suite which had a kitchenette suitable for making drinks and snacks, and a fridge. Very welcome. Light and airy with plenty of space and storage.
Bathroom was clean and neat with nice towels. Lovely big bed with nice bedding.
Cleaned daily to a good standard.
WiFi was poor and kept dropping out but was better on the ground floor.
Breakfast was quite acceptable.
Lots of balconies around the building where you got great views

Great location

Maria is a fantastic host and made us feel at home on this incredible island. She had ideas of where to go and where to eat. Breakfast was fantastic and there were lots of nice options (which was impressive for there only being a few guests during the low season when we were there). Accommodation was clean with hot water, heating/ac. Bed was a little hard but not that big of a deal especially since everything else was perfect. Ideal to have a car as it’s not in the center of town but you need a car anyway to explore the island. Madalena is really. Nice town and I recommend staying there especially if you’re coming from Faial. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Looking forward to returning!

Gem in Madalena

Loved staying at Villa Madalena. The owner was amazing, extremely nice, very accommodating with us checking in earlier. Let us have breakfast the day we arrived, baked a delicious cake for the guest to eat at night while drinking some tea, and we had the best night sleep in our trip so far!
Location is great, you can walk to some restaurant with delicious food.
I totally recommend this place.

Very friendly!

Really nice and friendly local/American owner and really helpfull staff who are trying to make everything comfortable even during the hurricane Lorenzo. Also gave some good advice for trips. Luxary and a clean room. It was a very nice stay.

Great place to stay

The Villa da Madalena is a hotel (where the reception is not always manned). It is wonderfully situated on a small hill, with beautiful views of the village and the island of Faial on the other side of a channel. The rooms are spacious, clean, have A/C, nice bathroom. Well maintained, and conveniently located. Very quiet, both during day and at night. Everything is easily reached in the nice village (supermarket, restaurants, diving operations). No TV or minibar - which are things we don’t need anyway. The breakfast has a wide selection as well. Best thing about the hotel is the lady who runs it. Extremely helpful in all requests. She even did laundry, and would not accept payment of it... Goes very recommended, next time we’re in Pico we will surely stay here again!
