This is the place to stay in Mantiegas. It is a fabulous location, with beautiful rooms, great amenities, and delicious breakfast, but the best part is Elsa! She is a delightful and knowledgeable host. She is an expert on the region and very helpful to 1st-time visitors. The grounds of her house are remarkable with views of Mantiegas. I will stay here again on my next trip to Mantiegas, which I hope will be sooner than later. My only regret is I did not stay long enough!

Magnificent Mantiegas

This is a terrific place. Elsa is really knowledgeable about the area and extremely helpful. She focuses on Little things like making sure we have a fire, coffee that's always available, fruit in the room on water. The house is spotless, breakfast is ample and the photos ( taken by her husband) beautiful. Thank you for a terrific trip!

The Serravale House is a beautifully restored old home. There are only four rooms available, but they are all very modern with comfortable beds and beautiful bathrooms. The House has a beautiful common area on the first floor. The owner of the house, Elsa, is very proud of her House and keeps it immaculately clean. Elsa wants to make you feel at home, and to help to ensure that you enjoy your stay. She’s a fountain of information on hikes, restaurants, shops, etc. She makes it a fun and unusual stay. We enjoyed the time that we spent with Elsa, an experience that we won’t soon forget.

Exceptional!

Great place, great location, great owner, great hospitality, great stay. The suite we stayed is very large, well decorated, well equipped, very convenient. The whole place as well as all rooms are very clean, it is very important to the owner and she puts a lot of efforts on that. The owner is very kind and warm - will do everything for you - advices for trips, restaurants, what to see, what to do. She will listen for any request/need and will do her utmost to meet your needs. Tasty and rich breakfast - all is fresh and at the time you ask for. Elsa took care of us like we are part of her family. It is well located for trips in Serra da Estrela park, some of the trips can start from the place itself without need for a car.

SerraVale is perfectly situated  for trips and tours in the region Serra da Estrela. Host Elsa knows the best hiking tracks and places to visit. She is  very warm and hospitable. Every day we enjoyed a lovely breakfast. It is all about giving her guests a perfect and pleasant stay.

Serra Vale is a family owned-operated country guest house.
 It is a traditional stone built former farm house, tastefully renovated by its new owners. It is superbly clean and the bedrooms are very comfortable. My room opened onto the private garden with loungers and chairs. What sets it apart is its owner-Elsa. She is a font of knowledge of all things local and can advise you on he best walks etc, she couldn’t have been more helpful. Tip: to find Serra Vale, follow the many signs to Hotel Berne and 30 Mts away is your home for the night(s). - Also it is the only building built in stone without the white render which dominates the Village.

Home from Home.

Elsa is great! What a wonderfull host she is. She can advise you on all the hikes in the area and gives a really personal service. She even gave us cake and bananas as a lunch on our long day hike :-).
Our room was beautiful and very clean. 
Breakfast is good value and the area is calm and quiet.
I would recommend staying in Elsa's house to everyone who wants to visit and hike in this area.

Elsa is great!

Stayed one night only with a group of cyclists during May just before our climb up to Torre at 2000 metres the following day.
Very comfy rooms,  Swiss chalet style.
Attentive host Elsa looked after us well and arranged local restaurant for us.
Breakfast superb.

Superb overnight stop.

Elsa was really welcoming and immediately gave us recommendations on what to do/where to eat in the area. We had a small twin room, not ideal for a couple, but it had everything we needed. I loved the rock that came out of our bathroom wall! Bathroom was quite small. Room was clean. Breakfast was good with local products, but not exceptional. Parking spot in front of the house. Great to visit different spots in the beautiful park of Serra da Estrella. Very green surroundings. Not easy to reach without a car.
