We spent a couple of nights here in a double deluxe room which had a great view across the river to Mértola.  The room was on the cosy side, but perfectly adequate for a two night stay.  It was great to have a fridge.  If staying longer, I'd probably recommend one of the larger rooms.  Everything here is spotlessly clean.
We were greeted warmly on arrival and the staff who serve breakfast (extra charge) were friendly and welcoming.  Breakfast was good and plentiful.
There is a nice pool which we weren't expecting to use in April, however, it was unseasonably hot so we did!
Exceptionally good value accommodation.
A short stroll away is a traditional restaurant with views across to the village (Espaço Casa Amarela).  

Lovely, Great Value Accommodation

On the one hand, the setting and view of Mertola are spectacular. The rooms are clean and tidy. On the other hand, reception by staff - who only speak Portuguese - is sketchy but perhaps this is due to language barriers? Breakfast - not before 8   - is ok. I recommend this place for the grounds, view and quiet. For the price also, it is a great value.

A Mixed Bag

We stayed here for 2 nights and my goodness what a truly special place.  The staff are outstanding, the room we occupied was spotless, had a mini apartment so a very well equipped kitchen, the pool and surrounding area lovely and beautifully kept.  We cannot fault this hotel and will retu4n soon.

Amazing hotel in a unique place

This is a fabulous bed and breakfast hotel! Spotlessly clean and nicely decorated throughout. Good quality bathroom and kitchenette (although we only used the fridge). Nice quality linen and towels, plus pool towels provided also. Good air con. We had a balcony overlooking the town and castle which was lovely. Pool clean but I think it could get a bit crowded as it’s only small and there are quite a few rooms here. One family took over the pool for a few hours one afternoon which was really annoying (didn’t bother me too much but a middle aged woman who’s overweight wearing a thong and doing handstands in the shallow end isn’t pleasant by any stretch of the imagination) . Good breakfast with freshly squeezed juice, bread, cheese, meats, yogurts etc was well worth €7. A few niggles such as a mucky shower drain, hairline cracks in the bathroom sink … however this doesn’t affect my rating and I feel it was great value for money!

Great value and a lovely stay!

Lovely setting on the banks of the Guadiana in the natural park. We had a room overlooking the town and castle. It was big enough for our needs. The bathroom was very well maintained with good shower pressure. Breakfast was also nice and the staff were lovely. The pool was refreshing to return to after a hot day of tourism. The hotel doesn’t have dining options but there are several very good restaurants close by and in the town. My only complaint would be if the hotel was to install bug blinds on the windows we could enjoy the fresh cool air at night in place of running the aircon. Better for the environment and the hotel’s electricity bill.

Lovely retreat.

Quinta do Vau is a nice B&B located at the left bank of the Guadiana River in Mértola. The B&B offers 15 rooms, some with kitchenette. The B&B has a small pool with deck chairs, a lounge with breakfast facility and a large terrace with view of the river on top of the second building. Staffs are friendly.

We had room 11 with a view of the river. The tastefully furnished & decorated 22m2 room had a balcony and private bathroom. The room had a kingsize bed with a average mattress & hard pillows, table & chairs, air-conditioning, club-chair, and a well outfitted kitchenette with coffee-machine, fridge, magnetron, stove top, sink, and all utensils you need. The sunny balcony had with 2 comfy chairs and small table & 2 chairs. The separate bathroom had washbasin, spacious shower and toilet. All was impeccably clean.

The next day we moved to room 15. Again a 22m2 room with the same outfitting. Instead of a shower this room had a bath-for-2 with view of the river. Free Wi-Fi & parking. A very good breakfast is served with a nice variety: eggs made to order, ham & cheese, bread, yoghurt, freshly pressed orange juice, fruit & preserves, pastries, tea & coffee.

We found Quinta do Vau very pleasant & comfortable, and we had a nice stay. Highly recommended.

Quinta do Vau is a gem

There was no evidence of sanitisation occuring at this facility, apart from the cleaning staff wearing masks. 
There is a wierd ambience here on arrival. Nobody meets you, and so you wander round trying to find staff. 
I was given a room that, unlike its clear description on the booking platform, did not have a verandah. When I managed via mobile to speak to the owner, I was told the wrong photos had been put up. 
The bathroom was quite basic, verging on shabby, with mould starting to form around the bottom of the shower. The basket where the toiletries were kept was stained.  
It was a cheap room rate, but it felt that way. 
Do not bother with the 6 euro breakfast. You are provided with a box of stuff, so no chance of any toast or eggs. The coffee is basic, and is an embarrassment to the great portugese coffee that exists. The sliced cheese under clingfilm was starting to sweat.
On the plus side, the location is amazing, with a great view of Mertola. The pool is nice, although did get crowded when the place was full.  The cleaning staff are nice and friendly.

Amazing location with basic facilities

That is exactly what everyone is looking for when travelling. 
A sublime location with amazing views from any direction.
Super comfort - spotless, modern, spacious room with all the necessary amenities including a small kitchenette, sitting area, veranda, wide bath and extra double bed.
Reasonable price - you can not beat the price here.

They also have an amazing swimming pool - heaven on earth.

Do not go anywhere else in this town. The only thing here is that you need a car and they have ample free parking.
Did I forget anything? oh, wonderful breakfast.

The kind of place anybody will enjoy - location, comfort, price

Hi, using one of the most popular booking platforms online (where you can find my review there as well), I booked for a night in the place to stay. Long story short my companion got a call from the doctor that she add a strong probability of having COVID. I messaged and try to call them, contacted also the platform which tried to reach them and nothing. During the following week I tried to called them many times and they didn't pick up the phone. Finally today almost a month after they picked up and when we talked about it they remember the situation saying that they implemented the no cancelation policy due to covid, in their opinion after I paid it was my decision to go or not with or without covid they would be an unconcerned party. Meaning if I payed I should have gone even if it meant puttuing all the other guests and staff at risk. In their opion due to the panorama we live today that is the smart thing to do. I didn't go even if anyone add any symptoms even if I wouldn't get any money back because that is the responsible thing to do. I'm pissed today that I finally called them that they are so unconcerned with covid and at said platform BOOKING because they don't do any background checks and don't instruct their partners to investigate any possible cause of infection and take any secuirty measures that they should take, this place never again, and serious starting to consider if booking is the platform I want to book my vacations for me, my family or my emplyees do to how unconcerned they where and are. You can check my review at booking but since they are hiding it you need to sort it from newest to old to get a glimpse at it.

Free covid for all

WE stayed here for 4 nights.The room was lovely and had a balcony.The bathroom was as big as the room and had a fantastic shower.The Breakfasts were really excellent.Lots of choice and in a lovely restaurant.There was a mini fridge in the room which was very useful.However what made this stay so fantastic were the members of staff who were so friendly and so helpful and so kind to us.We would gladly stay here again and hope to do so next year.
