Visited Porto before but didn't stay here I stayed just around the corner
I Stayed for 2 nights as was visiting Porto to welcome in the new year and this was perfect as it was close enough to all the main things I wanted to see and do 
It has a rustic charm but is clean and tidy with friendly staff 
I would stay here again

Rustic charm

It’s the location which wins it for this hotel ... just round the corner from a great bar (turn left out of the hotel, first left, on the corner at the top of the road), and a number of excellent restaurants.  And it’s only a five minute walk to Liberty Square and 15 minutes to the river front.

The receptionists are excellent, and all speak English.  And when we arrived there were free Portuguese custard tarts on the desk.

Our room, no 402, was a bit dark, as it only had a small garrett style window.  The bathroom also didn’t have an extractor which made it a little steamy and damp.  Also, no tea making tray in the room - you can ask for one to be sent up ... but the room cleaners take it away again every day!  Grrrr.  I also wasn’t convinced by the hotel’s green credentials, as every day they take away the soap (I hid it, so they couldn’t)!  And the towels were replaced whether we wanted them to be or not.

The hotel is on a narrow side street, but we still had some road disturbance, even though we were on the top floor.  Others did not, so ask for a room away from the road if you want peace and quiet.  The noise we heard, people shouting in a weekend, certainly didn’t keep us awake for long. 

But don’t get me wrong, the hotel was modern, clean and warm - the gripes above were  very minor.  Don’t let them put you off staying here.

We didn’t pay for the 12 euro breakfast, but a friend who did said it was excellent.  My friend and I ate at Via Garrett round the corner, on the main square (next to the Tourist Bureau), which I can heartily recommend.

I would definitely stay here again.

Great location, good hotel

This is a nice little property that is within a 5 or 6 minute minute walk to Trinidade metro (direct line to and from the airport) and around 10 minute walk to Sao Bento train station.  It is close to a small supermarket and a lot of nice little cafes, restaurants, bars and shops.  You can walk to the waterfront in around minutes and and a lot of central attractions within 20 minutes.  

We stayed on the second floor.  Our room was very clean and was cleaned everyday.  We had a nice little balcony.  We did wonder if it would be noisy with it being so central but that was not a problem on any of the nights we stayed (our first night was just after Portugal won a European championship so plenty of people out celebrating but noise was not a problem).  We had a fan in the room if it was too hot but opening the balany doors was usually enough to cool the room down.  

The lady that runs the property was really nice.  She was kind and friendly.  She spoke no English but my girlfriend spoke a little Spanish and we managed ok.  The lady was kind enough to let us leave our luggage after we checked out until it was time to get the tram to the airport.  

We would recommend this property if you want a good value location to explore the city.

Nice place and good value

This hostel in the heart of Porto provides a good value for money. There are many restaurants nearby. There is also a metro stop to the airport and many museums and attractions.Rooms are rather simple but clean. It's a little noisy but it is in city center .

We took quite a while to locate this guest house as there are too many hostel and restaurant having the same name in this area.
The building look old from outside and without any signboard.
We rang the door bell and the old landlady came to open the door.
Inside is dim and the landlady brought us to our room on the first floor. 
We are impressed when we stepped in the room as the room is clean and spacious. This is the old house but modern toilet. The room without air conditioner but with a table fan. 
It is situated in the centre of Porto and close to 2 metro station namely Trindade and Aliados . 
Porto is really hilly and so the street is quite stiff. 
The landlady is friendly and she can’t communicate with us in English. But this is not a problem .

In the city cener

Very good location near one of the main squares. Room is pretty spacious, with traditional furniture. Bathroom is comfortable. Just be aware that there are some cafes nearby so at night there may be some noise outside.
Note: there is no Guesthouse sign on the door, you just need to enter and ring the bell. :)

Good value for money:)

Excellent location in the city center, close to many atractions and quite easy to reach from the airport by metro. I have asked for a top floor room, which I think is the best choice if you don't mind the stairs. The room is clean and comfortable, even if basic and a little bit old furniture, but the bathroom was refurbished.

Very good choice!

Situated within walking distance of Porto centre and riverside. A beautiful, old, renovated house with lots of original features remaining - we stayed in the 'pink room' overlooking the street - light, spacious, clean, had everything we needed. Breakfast was plentiful around a large table with fruit, bread, tea, coffee etc available to utilise during the day in the equally spotlessly clean and spacious breakfast room which lead out onto a little back courtyard. Use of a fridge, designated tupperware boxes and cooking equipment should you wish to self cater. Staff were excellent - welcoming, helpful, maps available and keen to show where everything was situated in Porto; good English. There is some morning traffic noise, it didn't spoil our stay. Porto has have some interesting hills and steps... This is excellent value and would be our first choice again.
