Great Hostel good location great value friendly staff very nice house I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel plus I can't wait to go back to Porto and once again stay in this excellent hostel see you soon .

Great Hostel

Very friendly and welcoming staff but sadly the place is extremely dirty and run down.
The toilet facilities are not sufficient for the amount of guests hosted.
There was mould and a strong smell in the building. 
With some care and cleaning this place could be amazing.
Best bit of the stay was the piano music in the evening. Not sure who played but it was stunning.

Staff fantastic facilities dreadful

I wouldn't choose this hostel again despite being cheap (€7-9 a night). We travel in November and it's impressive the cold it's all over the hostel. You have to walk in your jacket and sit inside and sleep in a super shelter as well as the mantas aren't warm enough to sleep comfortably and well. I asked for an extra blanket the three nights I was there and they told me there was no more. There is no oven in the kitchen. The building has common areas that look just like the living room and the dining room but this is dirty and sunny. The room on the third floor has curtains with mold, walls with paint and mold. There are 3 bathrooms in the whole building (solo 2 with duchess) plus there should be green and it should be super hot.

There are no reserves.

- The state of the house is truly terrible and dirty! For example I didn't want to take a shower at all because the showers looked horrible (quite a bit of mold, showers falling apart, dirty socks and things lying around everywhere, spiderwebs in the bathroom, mud etc). I've travelled quite a bit around Asia and South America as a low budget backpacker, to me cheap hostels can be really cozy but I would definetly not recommend this hostel in the state that it is in right now.
- Far to few bathrooms (especially for the third floor).
- I was excited about the bathtub (as written on booking.com) I think I found it standing in the back of the garden full of leaves? :)

Renovation (urgently) needed. Do not recommend.

It's an old house, wooden floors, spacious, with common areas and six double bedrooms. We came from a very small hostel in Lisbon and it looked like a mansion. The cleanliness, the three mornings we spent with Alex, one of the volunteers, looked like she cleaned everything. The bathrooms, because in the end we are many guests but the people are very respectful and we had the good fortune of having ducharnos right after the cleanliness. The breakfast milk, juice, two types of cereals, infusions, butter and mermaids and cheese cream. If something is finished, some volunteers will answer you without a problem. To get in and without the final reception time, we have to answer the questions by sending out the keys of a 5€ loan that we have to get out of the loans.

Hostel with enchantment

Nice place. Cheap and easy to access.
Personal is super nice . loved you all... I will be back for sure every time I'm back in porto ....The breakfast was complete and everything was well presented and had some variety from you could choose your preferred breakfast food.. 
Good cleaning in all the places.. bathroom, room and living room. 
I absolutely loved the inside garden, to rest, hang out and meet other fellow hostages..
Overall nice place. Keep up the good work. .

Nice and cheap

I made the reservation online and on arrival I was told that I had to pay 20€ (I don't know if it was from the page or the hostel) It is a very poorly maintained hostel with little cleanliness. They should invest in a bathroom renovation and keep the spaces clean. The neighbourhood cats are crawling inside. We slept two nights and every two nights we found that they had changed our bed.

Very bad hotel.

First, the place is very old and poorly maintened.
It seems also that all the homeless from the neighborhood come in this hostel to overnight there.
There were some very strange people while i was there ! !!
I also had to deal with a girl from the volunteers who work there who talked to me very badly because i switch bed without permission..
So my only advise is to go somewhere else, you have a lot of much better options not far away !!!

Worst hostel in town ! !!

I had to find somewhere to stay last-minute because of travel issues, and a local friend had stayed here a while ago and found it to be good for the price. At €12 a night, it's not bad, and the place is reasonably clean, and when I checked in no other guests were there aside from an eccentric but harmless and friendly traveling busker, so I was pretty fine with the idea of staying the night, assuming, as most hostels, the clientele would be travelers. Not so.

Not long after I arrived, some of the usual denizens arrived, and I found out I would be sleeping next to a middle-aged local man who looked like he should be the posterboy of an anti-drug campaign. And then another...and another. Most of the place seemed to be occupied by rough, and frankly, rather scary characters. When the (obvious) drug user next to me had set up a table between our beds so he could do his "cooking", I would have walked if I had anywhere else to go. I did ask if the staff could swap my bunk for one where I felt less threatened, and they did so very graciously, but I still felt I had to sleep with one eye open, as did the other travelers there going by their poorly-rested morning shambling.

I had been out late with friends and when I came in at 3 AM, there were fairly ominous banging sounds coming from whoever was using the kitchen, which I was frankly too much of scaredy-cat to investigate. At night there is zero staff presence, and I definitely did not feel safe at all given the volatile nature of the clientele. It's very eerie in the dark, with no kind of supervision or emergency line by which to reach workers. Linens were clean, however, but I had one of the very worst nights of sleep I have ever had - all the questionable guests aside, the blanket you are given is paper-thin and with no heating, the room gets very cold very fast once the sun goes down. I slept fully clothed in a thick sweater and I was still shivering.

Despite being reasonably clean, the place is in a real state of disrepair. The garden, as someone else mentioned, is more like a junkyard. Bathrooms are tiny and of dubious hygiene, never really smelling quite right. Dormitories also smell, with no ventilation system whatsoever. Expect a musky night.

Overall, if you just need a cheap bed and are brave and can take care of yourself, it's fine. But for the average traveler, this is nearly a bottom-tier hostel. It only deserves one star rather than none because I was lucky in being able to deal with a very helpful and friendly volunteer. If they want to match other hostels in the area, they really need to be selective about who they host, as most of them seem to be straight off the streets. As it is, I would never stay here again.

More homeless shelter than hostel

Nice, comfortable and clean! The rooms are mixed, so if you are not used to this type of accommodation you may find it a little uncomfortable. The hostel has 4 floors and the rooms are on the 2nd and 4th floors.
