It’s been years that I annually visit Sabugueiro and stay at Casas do Cruzeiro. Everytime it feels like visiting family. The houses have been improved over the years and are so cozy, clean and well equipped. The staff is always so nice and willing to satisfy all our requests.  Breakfast is great and offers homemade products besides a nice and wide range of choices. I strongly recommend Casas do Cruzeiro because they will provide you a memorable vacation, winter or summer time!

Another great vacation at Casas do Cruzeiro

Casas do Cruzeiro are a complex of traditional houses built with granite, located in the beautiful village of Sabugueiro (the highest village of Portugal), in the Serra da Estrela.
The houses are in the center of the village.
Four things to improve:
1 - no Wi-Fi (we are in 2016);
2 - being in an area with many regional products with quality, breakfast is very impersonal and poor, with individual packages of butter, jam, honey... no fruit, no eggs;
3 - the furniture and the kitchen (they seem to have more than 40 years);
4 - very bad soundproofing;
The best thing: they are pet friendly (I took my two dogs with me and there were no problems).
I would return to stay there!

A good place to stay, good value for money, with a few things to improve

The cosy house and the worming staff makes you feel at home and forget the cold outside.
We will be back in the summer wen Serra da Estrela  is also one of the best places in the world.

Great place to rest between trips to the top of "serra da estrela". Cosy small houses with warm Fire place and rustic enviroment. Breackfast is served in the check-in house and its very local and good. Dont expect gormet just local food wich is great.
