The room we got was clean and simple, and comfortable. It was quiet and the bathrooms are very clean.

However, the rooms are too expensive for the quality of the hostel, and the breakfast is very poor : no water for the tea, no juice, we barely had bread and jam...

We stayed only one night so it was ok but if you want to stay more I do not recommend it. The owner is nice but we saw him only when we checked-in. Not very friendly hostel.

Good rooms

The O meu Amor is located in the heart of the old city of Viana. It is an old family house, the décor is nice and it is clean, but some renovations here and there would be necessary. I booked a dorm and luckily had the whole room to myself. 
The only disadvantage was that when I arrived, nobody was there and nobody answered the phone numbers that were indicated at the entrance. It took me more than 2 hours to reach somebody. The employee was excusing the bad cirumstances, but nevertheless this should not happen. Also during my stay, I never saw any employee at the hotel, so there was also nobody in case you had any questions.

Nice house, but had to wait over an hour for somebody to open

For 20 euro per person (for two singles), this suited our budget very well. The house itself is nicely decorated and comfortable. However, it was obvious that for our stay, the owner had overbooked and she ended up putting us in a room labelled "lounge" with two camp stretchers - without apology or explanation. The bathrooms were clean and spacious, however water was inconsistent and very often went scorching hot to freezing cold. And one shower would flood next to the toilet.

For breakfast, as it is only at 9.30am to suit the owner (one morning she was late and arrived without apology), with everyone more than ready to eat, the dining table becomes full very quickly so we ate in the lounge. However this was ok as the dining table can be a little uncomfortable if the other travellers are not friendly (you all sit at one table together). It is just bread, jams and tea/coffee.

However, location is great - in the middle of the centro historico. 

The owner, although friendly when you talk to her, did the minimum to make you feel at home - no offer of any advice for visiting the town and just happy to take your money at the end. Perhaps it was the language barrier (her English was ok, but basic). But for 20euro, fine.
