The best accomodations in the mountains. Great view, really nice people and you can find here everything you need. You can start a bomfaier and a have a barbeque. Very quiet and surrounded by nature. Great experience! I totally recomand it!

Awesome

Very nice terrace, nice view over the mountains and Papusa (Doll) peak, the room (4) was very clean and with all you need, the morning coffee provided by the host, served on the room’s balcony was a great start of the day. I truly recommend Transalpina Lodge.   

Great stay on the “top of the world”

The lodge is at the beginning of the Transalpina road, some 100m from the main road. We stayed on the second floor, our room facing the Papusa peak (2136m). The room was impeccably clean and, even though in the middle of the summer, heating was functioning given the cold weather outside. We used this location as a base for our trips to Pestera Muierii, Pestera Polovragi, Manastirea Polovragi, Obarsia Lotrului and Lacul Vidra, so we left early in the morning and came back late afternoon, enjoying our cosy and quiet room. 

The owners are very friendly and extremely helpful in guiding us around. It is definitely a top location in a fabulous place. 

Maybe the only shortcoming is that they do not serve breakfast. However, there is a kitchen on the ground floor where guests can cook their own meals and a very nice terrace outside the lodge where one could eat surrounded by great scenery.

High quality accommodation on the top of the mountain

Great location, clean rooms, clean bathrooms (a very important detail), and the view... breathtaking! The owners are very nice, also the lady who is always there, Mrs Marcela. So if you want to stay in Ranca a couple of days or you simply want to get some rest for a night, you should choose Cabana Transalpina ⛰👍🏻

Go for it, you won't regret it 👍🏻

Cabana Transalpina is situated at the end of Ranca and the beginning of the national park reservation. You will have no nosy neighbors and could enjoy the silence of the mountain, the view on Papusa and the everyday movement of the shapers and their sheep. We had three rooms there which were very cosy, clean and moderne equipped. We could have access to the kitchen, which was fully equipped! We could also use the living room of the house, a lovely place to have your meals, watch TV or simply tell stories. Of course, if the weather is nice the tears is the best place at every moment of the day! We stayed there for two nights and did some tracking to Papusa top (1,5 - 2 hours) and Lake Galcescu (6 hours). One evening the lovely host at Cabana Transalpina (Ms Marcela) arranged a lovely dinner at shepherds house nearby (30 min walk).

The best place to have a rest of some days in Ranca

+++Very helpful and friendly staff, clean rooms, amazing view. The cabin has a kitchen where you can prepare food. In the evening you can light a camp fire in the special designated area.

Perfect place for relaxation

Great room and bathroom, similar to a mid range hotel.  Very clean.
Shared kitchen if you want to prepare your own food.  There is a lounge for guests too if you want to socialise.

Views are great if you have sunshine but you can be in the clouds as well.
Excellent value for money.

Mountain top lodging

The room was small-ish and not so clean(ashtray dirty,table dusty,gum left over,shower with shampoo residue),you don’t expect this when you pay a not so insignificant amount per night. The view was nice.

It was just ok

Two weeks ago I make a reservation(Monday fore Wednesday in the same week) at this location but Ms Marcela make overbooking and when we arrive to make check in we didn't have reservation. She propose accommodation at the same yard but in a second building, who was not the same. We felt offended and we left to Onix.

Terrible experience

This place it’s not ok, in the evening you cannot leave the house, it is a blizzard, Mrs. Marcela was an unpleasant experience. I do not recommend, because very far from the center and the personal it’s not ok.
