Casa Matei is a nice, cozy place about 20 minutes walk from the Center of Brasov. Although it is located in an old, historical building, everything is newly renovated. The hosts are very friendly, always willing to do anything in order for their customers to have a wonderful time. They provided useful advice about Brasov and about the surrounding area. Breakfast was rich and very good. All in all, we had a wonderful time here and would definitely recommend it.

Lovely Family Business

The owner is a very nice person, he treats you like you're part of the family. Clean place to stay in, I recommend the rooms upstairs, great view, nice price also. I will definitely go back there in the future.

Very warm place to stay.

you can take a taxi to this place from the train station for about 15 lei. it will be a challenge to find it with a bus.  the owner shares a main door with other homeowners and they need to meet and greet you when you arrive or you will not get in.  it is a home with rooms converted into a tiny hotel. i think there are 4 rooms and one common area. this is fine for a single person or a couple on a budget.  we were neither and i felt uncomfortable because it did not feel or gave me the freedom of a hotel. the homeowner was nearby but you don't see her unless you want or need something.  since i had to find or knock on their home door, i felt so uncomfortable to ask questions or request for another blanket. it was quiet but you felt you had to be quiet too for the sake of other guests.  it made me feel like i was intruding on their space or back at my relatives home again.  there was a decent walk to get downtown Brasov, so it was not that centrally located.  i would not recommend this place at all.

Decent location but not the most comfortable

We stayed in Casa Matei for 1 night, in July 2016, for a triathlon competition.
The owner was very kind and supportive ever since we made the reservation, allowing us to store the bicycles in a locked storage unit outside, allowing us to book 1.5 days to support our return from the competition to a warm shower, etc.

The decoration / entire setup is very nice,cozy, with good taste. I have only seen this approach and result while in the Scottish islands...

I have also diacovered by chatting with the owner that my best friend also prefers this place when travelling to Brasov.

PS: it is located on a street that goes directly to *the* area in the city center ("Piata Sfatului") where tourists generally go (less thank 1 km)

Excellent, cozy, family place

We found this place quite by accident and immediately loved it! It has just a few rooms and is very homey. A nice change from the stark motel style hotels. It is very close to all attractions, (10min walk) and has parking out the front.
Our room was large and had a nice bathroom. Everything was clean, and the owners were very helpful and kind.
Wifi couldnt get through to our room because of the thick walls but there is a cute little communal area where you can get it fine.
