The place îs fabulous:more than 10000 sq meters,include the Mara river.Pension have 3 levels:in the ground have a little bar,a saloon ,a very nice and big table (breakfast and dining)..Around have a few roustic. kiosks .The place is spotless clean,all amenities work perfectly and not in the end the hostess Maria keep in touch with you with warming smile.She’ll cook for you traditional dishes and keep filling your little glass with “horincǎ” (it’s like a 40% alcoholic local drink made from various fruits).We ask for staying in parking with our motorhome(including electricity and water) and another 4 friends took 2 double rooms.

Don’t miss the place where you’re in Maramureş.

An idilic location with green grass, the sound of the river and the kindest people ever. Great food, wonderful rooms. Great location for bile rides, historical sites. Good choice for a quiet and fun vacation.

Oasis

Great location, comfortable rooms, excellent home cooked meals and friendly - English speaking service. We extended our stay here for a extra night in view of the great food including home made butter and jams. My only negative comment is that the showers were very small - but not a  major issue.

The hosts, Chief Dănuţ and his lady Mărioara, are distinguished, welcoming and open minded people.
The exemplary cleanliness and excellent cuisine give you a wonderful experience that you would like to spend a lot of time.
We will surely come back and recommend to all who know how to appreciate the quality, first of all human!

Simply ... wonderful!

My husband and I stayed at Pensiunea Mara for one week the end of April. The location is down a narrow street from the National Highway and very near to the Mara River. The sounds you hear are those of the river and some nearby farm animals. The air was fresh and the sounds relaxing. The rooms are quite comfortable and quiet. Because the weather was so mild, we slept very well with the windows open. Maria and her husband serve excellent, tasty meals. Breakfast always had fresh dairy products: milk, cheeses, and during the spring fresh sheep's milk yogurt, along with homemade breads, excellent fruit preserves, and meats. Lunches and dinners included the best soups I've ever had. Each meal was exceptional and plentiful. The delicious desserts are made by Maria and are pastry shop pretty. Her husband is an accomplished chef who also makes his own aged cheeses. It was a totally magical experience. This is a good base for exploring more of Maramures or from which to take leisurely walks around Deseşti.

Peaceful, relaxing stay in the country

Nice place, cozy room, tasty homemade food, friendly and helpful staff! Very clean and tidy. Totally worth the price. Will definitely recommend if you want to visit the beautiful Desesti village and surrounding areas. 

Amazing

Amazing hospitality from the owner, Maria. She made us feel like home, paying attention at every small detail during our visit.
The food she prepared for us was locally sourced and was awesome, with local specialities and drinks. 
The villa is small, very well located in the village and also pretty close - 1 to 2 hours drive - from a lot of attractions . 
We will be back for sure.
