If you are looking for a 4* hotel, this is NOT your choice. We arrive at the hotel with 28 degrees outside, no one has switched on the air con in all the UNDER ROOF rooms, and NO ONE in the hotel (including the husband of the owner) does know how to make it working, in the old villa there is NO elevator and NO ONE available to help you with luggage, the fridge in the room was not connected and NOT working anyway. Worst of all, when in the morning we discuss with the owner, she pretends everything worked and does not accept to compensate us (giving back at least a % of the room price): yes in a 4* hotel you are asked to pay 100% at check in. Such a pity that Romania with all its beauties does not know yet how to provide tourism services and making clients happy is not a was da priority, even in a 4* hotel.

Not a 4* hotel, rude ownership, nice staff

There was no parking/places no restaurant breakfast was a buffet (including staff): was friendly, helpful, English speaking room: very large, no windows to open (roof), heating was on (unfortunately not noticed and generally hard to detect in Romania), so the air conditioning did not oppose modern bathroom with bathtub.

A pleasant hotel with small but highly recommended cabins

This place looked Good when I searched, and it turned out to be Great! 

Reservation by phone was easy. Finding it was no problem, it is located in a relatively quiet area, but stil in walking distance of centre. Check-in was smooth, payment by card.

I liked this place from the first minute: Old building, Airco, wifi, all very Good. The furnishing was modern/classic and Good Quality, Definitely “Boutique”. The motorcycle got parked safely inside the gates as well.

I found a place to have dinner, one of several in walking distance. Sleep was Excellent, Breakfast was Very Good, and checkout was smooth.

Excellent hotel.

Five years ago, Ion and Lica Alexe converted a historic landmark in Focsani, Romania -- the 200-year-old family home of poet Garabet Ibraileanu -- into a lovely boutique hotel, complete with a marble staircase ascending to the six guest rooms. The rooms are tastefully furnished, but as another reviewer noted, could use a painting or two. The beds are comfortable, and the rooms very clean. Breakfast is simple but tasty. The hotel doesn't serve lunch or dinner, but there are good restaurants nearby, so that's no problem. The price of a stay is reasonable as well -- $50 to $70, depending on the size of the room.
An important part of the hotel's charm are Ion and Lica, who are friendly and eager to please.
It's too bad there's nothing in the hotel that sheds light on the poet, Ibraileanu -- no display that talks about him or even a portrait of him. I'm sure some guests will want to know who he was and why he was famous in his day -- the late 1800s and early 1900s. So I hope Ion and Lica remedy this.
Another suggestion I'd make is adding a leather lounge chair in the lobby -- which has no chairs at the moment -- so guests can be comfortable while waiting for local friends or business acquaintenances to pick them up. There are tables in a small conference room off the lobby, but that room is unsuitable for non-conference guests if a conference is actually occurring. 
As for Focsani itself, it's a nice town of about 8,000 nestled in wine country. You can get to the hills that have the wineries by car in about 15 minutes. I didn't get a chance to talk with area tourism officials, but I'm sure wine-country tours are available. The area wines I tried were good -- both the whites and the reds. 
The bottom line is that the Green Park Hotel is a good place to stay when you're on business in Focsani or you need a comfy home base from which to visit the wine country. I'd stay there again.

Classy wine-country boutique hotel that was once a poet's family home

Hotel was made in an old historical building, with classic rooms, nice stylish furniture and elegant bathroom. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was classical, and you could order some worm dishes and different types of cafe.

Classic style ambiance to explore

My father and I traveled to Focsani to visit the Jewish synagogue and Jewish cemetery and do some family history research. 

We were advised to stay at the green park Boutique hotel by a guide in Bucharest. We are so thankful that she pointed us in the right direction because after viewing the other hotels in Focsani we were horrified - they are all terrible.  

Green Park is exceptional. The owners are a lovely couple who have taken a 200 year old Armenian mansion and gutted the inside and added 6 hotel rooms upstairs. They live downstairs and there is also a restaurant downstairs. 

There is also a wine cellar beneath the house that is very beautiful and an ample back and front patio so it’s a good hotel for events like weddings, etc. 

The rooms are spacious and have skylights so they can let in sunlight or can be completely dark when you sleep. The rooms are also super new, with comfy beds, clean showers and ample closet space.  Also the WiFi is quite good throughout the Green Park Hotel. 

The breakfast is nice. It feels like private service cause it’s such a small hotel we only saw one or two other guests. The breakfast is a terrific omelette and then a nice spread of meats, pastries and fruits, etc.  Definitely worth it. 

In summary, if you visit Focsani this is the only place to stay unless you want to stay in a really old communist-era hotel that is filthy and poorly decorated and managed. Also, last thing they had a parking spot for our car and it was locked and safe. And also there is a neighboring restaurant Intim across the park that’s really good and specializes in seafood and has a nice garden and patio. 


Focsani’s best hotel is Green Park

The stuff are extremely friendly and helpful. It's small and warm place. 
There is a free private parking.
Free WiFi that works very well.
They really try them best.
I was in first floor, there was no elevator but the stuff help with the luggage.
The room has no real windows, only 2 small windows on roof.
The bed is OK not more than that. The room is very basic even isn't small but no windows no picture just white walls, TV, desk, 2 chairs and a bed.
Breakfast was minimal but they offer omelette and coffee.

Not for me

The hotel is located in a renovated villa near the centre. All well arranged, but not suitable to make the hotel. 6 rooms including at least 4 without windows and with only windmills. Tents of non-electric windmills so to close you have to climb on the chairs. Minimum breakfast.

Above the local average but still low

Great boutique hotel with 6 rooms. Great staff. Great restaurant. Food and service is better than 5 stars restaurant. Room is big enough and well furnished. Bathroom is very new and clean. Wifi working well in the room and restaurant area. It is not far from city center, just 10 min walk.Definitely recommending this hotel. 
 


Perfect choice

Pros: Rooms, new clean. Large bathroom. Availability of a flat room. Good restaurant Voluntary staff. Disadvantages: Because all rooms are on the top floor (under the roof), the windows are only on the ceiling, and because the ceilings are high enough, it is almost impossible to look out the window. There were difficulties with entering the parking lot in the hotel yard, having to leave the car on the street.
