Hostel Alutus

It is called a 'hostel'. It isn't, for it is most definitely a hotel, albeit a simple one. My room was quite reasonable, but the bathroom needed a bit of attention, as did the bottle of liquid soap that looked, in its filthy bottle, rather threatening. There's not a separate shower cubicle or even a curtain, so everything gets wet. The real issue was the lighting, with one wall fitting just about illuminating the entire room. In fact you could only read in the bathroom, but not everyone likes to sit on the toilet lid with their feet in two centimetres of shower water. As other correspondents note, there are balconies outside each room, but I think they are there to improve the view of the hotel from outside, for the view from the hotel is rather less inspiring! The breakfast is not a buffet, but a choice from a menu card. Personally I prefer this, as trying to play tray dodgems with half-asleep hotel guests while looking for the orange juice is never fun. It is much more civilised just to sit and be served. Even if there was no orange juice... One point to note is that Google maps has a tendency to send you somewhere else entirely, in my case the bin area behind a mobile phone shop.
