We found the place after a long hard Via Transilvanica stage with rain and mud. The Cabin os warm and cosy. The food is great, local and plenty. The owners are friendly and swiftly catering to your needs. The bad was comfy, I had a perfect night sleep. Would definitely visit again next time around!

Calm and relaxing

Splendid b&b in a tranquil area. Immersed in the nature. Fantastic local food. Gorgeous breakfast

Bed and breakfast super

I really love the setting of this house. While there are many wooden houses in the area this one is the only one built with logs. The pores between the logs are filled with sheep’s wool, which I have never seen before. The place has a distinct nose to it - somewhere between soft cheese curd and smoked sausage (perhaps both) mixed with sheep wool and charred wood.

The hosts are quiet and obliging. They do not smile excessively, so any emotion you get from them is true to the bone. I expect this from hard working mountain folk. They live in the same house, but a family of 5 (my family) can hardly seek privacy, as we trip over ourselves, so the hosts were only a backdrop to our own kerfuffle.

The food is hearty, home made, full of pristine, powerful tastes. Even the “light” cheesecake was made with wholesome goat milk. Their meat and sausages have a pronounced acidity and saltiness to them, the cheeses are almost unsalted. They do not serve home made bread (which is kind of a pity, as I think that would have been awesome) and breakfast includes margarine (not butter), which covers your mouth with a thin film of wax. Not fun. Evening meals are served with a portion of palinka and blackberry liqueur, which put hair on your chest immediately.

The hosting family is as hardworking as they get: mom cooks and cleans the house, while father is building a house next to this one. I believe every penny you spend here will be honestly used to improve the estate.

For all these reasons, I think Cabana Piatra Runcului deserves a fiver.

Excellent Romanian chalet.

We spent New Year's there (rented the whole cabin lodge) and it was realy good. The food was tasty, the location is close to Campulung Moldovenesc.
The owners are very friendly and welcoming and made their best effort to care for our every need. (thank you - "dna. Alina" and "nea Vasile"! :) )

The only negative side of staying here is that the owners live in the cabin lodge as well (they have a bedroom and bathroom downstairs) and there is a small lack of intimacy but you get used to them being there because they are realy nice people. Moreover, this issue will be sorted out soon as they are building a separate house in which to live in.

Overall, the stay at CABANA PIATRA RUNCULUI was very nice, we had a great time and our hosts were great people !
