We moved to this hotel when the Hotel Sinaia promised us twin rooms, and then had none which was disappointing. I never even looked at Caraiman hotel, and that was a big mistake. Cara Iman blew me away in so many different ways. We felt like princesses staying in an old Romanian castle. The hotel itself is just magnificent. Our room was very, very large and had two separate, nice twin beds with a canopy that made us feel like Romanian royalty. Such a lovely historical hotel.

Historical hotel where you feel royal

State-of-the-art Belle Epoque hotel in neoclassical style with rich Art Nouveau decorations, exquisite cuisine and best location in the central park of Sinaia. Loved  eveything about it including the nice personnel.

Very nice building entirely renovated. The beds are comfortable, the size of the room correct. The decoration is strictly as it was built in 1882, very authentic. We had a good time here. The breakfast was very vast, with fresh products.

Restaurant Caraiman, on ground floor on Caraiman Hotel is a genuine time travel to 80's. From the entrance you'll feel the smell of cooking oil so you'll feel your stomach already half full. Before you seat beware at chairs. Really used chairs, ragged and torn.
Menu has only few eatable things and so called traditional romanian cuisine is totally wrong. Avoid at any circumstances shrimps (the waited was sincere and give us a tip: If you want to go to hospital, eat it. It stays in fridge from 3 months!!!).
Nothing decent to try, really. Quite expensive also. On the same budget you can try other restaurant.
Speaking about the Hotel Caraiman. The same atmosphere like in the restaurant. Old furniture mixed with new one (bought from used warehouse), dirty bathroom, really loud during day from the skating are in the park. We stayed 6 nights the and they didn't clean the room or change the sheets. Definetly not returning.

Want an unpleasant trip to comunist times?

It’s near peles castle, we used the hotel as a luggage store on our way from brasov to Bucharest, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and they refused to charge us for putting our luggage few hours.

Helpful staff

Very bad service. They did not want to service us even though they had sufficient waiters. The rooms smelled badly as per the hotel was old. Price too high. I do not recommend it at all. Please choose hotel anda.

Not a place to visit

The room was nice & spacious. The TV was just great after a long day, lots of international channels. We received very great service. The breakfast was honestly not good & could be much better. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Nice spacious rooms & great service

Not only does the dust settle over time, but also a disinterest in what might be called a beautiful royal residence, but nothing... just a criminal disinterest. Everything breaks quietly, in a place with fabulous potential.

It's a shame.

This is the nearest hotel to the railway station although one has to climb the steep hill. It also faces a pleasant park on the opposite side. The price listed in the latest edition of the popular Japanese guidebook was 140RON, but I found at the front desk a notice saying that a single room cost EUR53, or 220RON. More than 57 per cent price hike was quite a nasty shock, but I didn't want to walk any further with my luggage, so I decided to stay at Caraiman nonetheless. The building has a romantic ambience and decor, which must have been an aristocratic villa at the end of the 19th century. The wi-fi (with no password) worked well in the lobby, but once inside the guest room, it was utterly useless. Another down side was the late middle-aged woman at the front desk. She behaved like a legacy from Ceaușescu dictatorship; i.e. no emotion, only commanding English sentences, unfriendly & unpleasant and utterly rude. The next time I come back to Sinaia, I'd rather stay at Palace Hotel just nearby.

Good location and decor but the front desk far from commendable

Pros:
-Good location.  Next to a park and the telecabina is easily accesible to visit the breathtaking mountains.  The center of town is also close.
-Wifi (not a very strong connection)
-Comfy beds
-Enjoyable breakfast
-Spacious rooms, lobby, and staircases
-Beautiful outside of the hotel

Cons:
-The service is not good, as we had to keep asking for our rooms to be cleaned
-The rooms weren't clean and the bathroom felt very dirty.  There was mold everywhere.
-The lights didn't work in the bathroom
-The dresser fell apart

Overall:
This hotel is gorgeous from outdoors, but the rooms are dated and need work.  The service isn't good either.  Despite this, my family and I still enjoyed staying at Hotel Caraiman.
