Valesko Hotel

Check in very basic reception very basic but friendly. No help offered with bags. We were on the second floor so carrying bags was not much fun. Ask for a lower floor if it's going to be an issue. Well I must be fair and say from my point of view I found none of the issues regarding graffiti on the wall or the room being cold, if anything it was a bit too warm. The room is functional and not so bad it's a 3 star hotel room and looks like it. We do though have slippers in the room, not sure why the previous reviewer never had. The walls and doors are not very sound proof and neighbours can be heard. To be fair the hotel we stayed at in Moscow is so good that I have to write this review trying hard not to compare. Bathroom is functional and has what is needed. No soaps shampoos guest extras. But it's clean and that's more important. Bath and shower in one. It is indeed old fashioned, not necessarily decor etc just the style of the management. and I really do think It's very much for locals too get away from busy (extremely) Moscow. Actually if not for the conference we attending there is no way I would be here. I also noticed the left over food from dinner at breakfast. Fortunately I'm more of an English breakfast type of guy so never even thought about the leftover stuff from dinner. Food is ok pretty Russian style buffet effort. Some choice and it fills you up, definitely not gourmet or first class Russian cuisine. The setting is what makes this place. A river running just in front, gorgeous trees quite magnificent actually. It actually snowed yesterday and it was like a scene from an old Russian novel. It also features a spa. I never had the chance to try it out so cannot comment further. Unfortunately spa music was played everywhere in the eating and lounge area. I'm actually writing this review from this property so my point of view is quite fresh". Why 4 stars you may ask? Well if you come here it will be for the rest and relaxation not the food or accommodation I would assume. And it is serene and lovely so if you after that it's great.
