Was staying there before and after mountain tracking. 
Hotel is a "cost effective" choice. You get good service for a good price. Location is 15 minutes by foot from railroad station and 15 minutes by taxi from airport. In vicinity there are enough places to have a quick snack of full-course meal. 

The only thing I want to complain about is a hot water supply. It was not stable and it was "little bit warm" at best during my first night there. My friend staying one floor above said "it was cold". Second night 10 days later situation with water was better. Still not "hot" but at least "really warm" water was available.

Good enough

Stayed 2 nights at Hotel Kavkaz on our way to Elbrus. Got great room, great service and best food we've had in Russia! Thank you for your hospitality! Laundry was done in 2 hours for only 20 GBP and we got champagne with local fruits to our room. From this location the airport is 15 min away by taxi and the city can be browsed in 2 hours walk. The hotel restaurant was surprising, serving the best local food we've had. People generally don't speak english but everybody is very patient and google translate helps a lot.
