On the surface it looks new, clean and tidy but for anything but the briefest of stays the details will annoy.  
Bugs in the rooms and in the salads (no apology for either when pointed out), a really limited selection of food in the buffet style breakfast, lunch & dinner and some truly unique/interesting/inedible dishes that suit no palate I know of. 
Extremely poor Wi-Fi will leave you using your own mobile data most of the time.
Super helpful hotel taxi driver meeting us at the airport was appreciated.
Lift to the "beach" tunnel was interesting.
A la carte restaurant was completely deserted when we went for an evening meal being unwilling to take another night of the buffet and considering the expense and quality you can see why.  Nice view though.

"Traditional" perhaps, but that doesn't excuse the faults

Stayed here during the winter olympics; breakfast was very good; loved heated towel rack; the room had new furniture clean look to it; complimentary shuttle service takes you to the train station; this hotel is reachable via the train line from the airport; cab fare to the hotel is $1300 rubbles approximately; restaurant on the 16th floor is the only place to have dinner if you don't eat before coming back they only accept cash no credit cards; there is no room service at the hotel; very friendly staff and helpful; balcony is a nice size; frig in room; no clock in room so don't forget your mp3 player is you want to listen to music;

Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics

Stayed at Zelenaya Roshcha during the Sochi Olympics.  
1. Recent remodel makes it up to european standard
2. Front desk staff is helpful. Assisted with logistics, calls, flights.
3. Difficult transport in/out of hotel-- closest train stop is Mestista which is really not a practical walk due to hills and main high way passage.  Try to take a taxi but difficult to arrange from the hotel.
4. Breakfast was good.  It's a combination of heavy Russian foods and more typical european cereals, breads, jams, yogurt, etc.
5. Very clean.
6.  Bar and restaurant on premise which is good because difficult to get to other locations at night.
