Given the exceptional remoteness (on a remarkable sub polar archipelago), this hotel is simply brilliant. Cosy, friendly, pretty, flowery. 

They’ve fixed the Wi-fi - it’s now good. They’ve fixed the payments - you can use your credit card. The only remaining problem is the abysmal breakfasts, and they are weird, because the hotel restaurant is superb (in a country where food is still very sketchy). Try the exquisite fish soup or the excellent tongue salad.

Amazing 

Nice spacious olden times style room with modern amenities. Good breakfast and the restaurant staff were very helpful as we wanted to order our dinner to be ready after the sauna ("banya" in Russian). Everything was ready as ordered and cooked to perfection. 

If you do appreciate Russian banya, book in early so you don't miss your chance. In case you missed it, you may find another option as most little hotels also have their own good quality banyas. It is less convenient, of course, so may sure you've got warm clothes and a hat to walk back to your lovely Solovki Hotel.

Cosy and convenient

I enjoyed my stay at the Solovki very much. The electric radiators in the room were much needed in early June and worked well. The bathroom was basic but I had brought everything needed; the bed was good.
They arranged R/T transportation from the airport, after I got in touch.
Be assertive as to what you will (or will not eat) for breakfast and they will accommodate while sulking a bit!

Lovely stay

We spent 3 days on the island and tried both standard and delux room. The difference was minor, so the standard room might just be good enough. The hotel is divided in several buildings each of them made of real wood and with bizzare decoration (there was a dead bear OMG). But aside from those kitchy moments it is quite clear we are talking about a high quility hotel. Yes, it was a bit pricey, but the whole experience at the Island is absolutely worth it. No question about it. Hotel restaurant serves delicious and varied food and there is even internet there. The staff doesn't speak english (just like pretty much everywhere around Russia, except the big cities), but the young recepcionist understands some english.

Great hotel on the island

This hotel is situated sort of away from the center of the Solovetsky settlement.  From the main monastery you need to go to the south past the Sberbank office.  It consists of several buildings - one administrative with a restaurant, and several accommodation buildings.  They are all made of wood.  There are even skins of animals in them.  The owner of this hotel is a former big shot and loves hunting.  
The buildings are made of wood, that is why every tine noise could be heard from your neighbors.  But it is relatively warm inside.
Wi-fi is slow and for an additional fee.
make sure you have enough cash to pay for your room as the credit card payment is not always working.
