Sweet Village Hostel Ligovskiy

For the price I paid for the place, the hostel was good. I will not say perfect because I have stayed at plenty of cheaper and better hostels in Japan and other countries but I would say that the place does have a good location first. It is not situated on the main street but it is on a main road and beside the main highway. It is also located conveniently near bus stops and trams for easy access to other locations which was really good for me! It has no other view of st. Petersburg since it was on a highway. It was also right across a huge shopping mall and near a 24 hour drug store which was very handy to me and my constant asthma attacks and colds. There were issues with the bathroom being dirty for me, numerous times I had to clean the bathroom myself. I guess thats what happens when you're in a hostel? But I did kind of expect a little cleanliness in the bathroom. I think it was also from the guests who were not being clean not really the person not cleaning. There was a lady who cleaned every morning and I observed this because I was always jet lagged and awake at 3am to see her cleaning at 5am. I find that one shower room was quite strange because the floor was wooden and it reeked of just every kind of smell i did not want to smell. The shower floor was also wooden in that one shower room and the curtain was slimy so i never touched it. The other shower rooms were just made with a plastic flooring and the glass doors but those too were quite dirty especially when the person before did not clean up after themselves. I find that taking showers at 5am is the best time, since it is right after the cleaning lady comes. In case you are a germaphobe such as myself. I had an issue with the toilet not having a bidet because that meant a lot of tissue papers with poo were just inside the dumpster and I found that, that really contributed to the foul odor of the toilets. I was constantly using the air freshener provided to help me since my nose is also quite sensitive to smell. But no other issues, just with some guests who just cannot clean up after themselves! I found that a bit annoying a lot of times. Finding poo in the toilet or finding lots of hair in the shower drain or the pile of toothpaste i saw in one sink. The beds and the rooms were very comfortable. I stayed at room number one with the girls and the room was so nice and quaint and I was provided with a towel and a beautifully covered floral comforter with a matching pillow which I quite liked. In the morning the bread was free and there was a fridge, frying pan, cooking area, sink, washing machine, dryer, hair dryer all provided for you and for your own use. This to me was great! Since It made things feel more like home. The couches around the hostel were also nice and the tables and the interiors well situated. Again, I just didn't like when the guests would leave crumbs on the couches and the floors. I wish they would just clean up after themselves. There were also wall plugs everywhere around the hostel and a locker was provided for us and there was a hanger area in our room too for our coats and such. Otherwise I had a lovely stay and met a lot of wonderful people as well.
