It’s a great weekend getaway with attentive service, peaceful surroundings and friendly villagers. The price was affordable with full board 

The huts were made of straw, simple yet cosy. 
Pool was clean and inviting, it was nice to have a refreshing dip after cycling with fat bicycles around the village, kayaking in the lagoon or just chilling by the pool with a book. 
 
Meals by the lagoon offered fine views of the lagoon, watching fishermen and kids in the waters, washing the horses, donkeys or simply playing in the waters.   It was also calming 

Food was served on time and with generous portions.  We had salad, beef with grilled vegetables and fries, coconut Cake for dinner. Lunch consisted of fried prawns, grilled fish with vegetables and rice. 
 
Points to note the network is not 
good which is fine if you don’t intend to be watching movies there via the net. 

I will definitely go back again. 

It’s a pity that Covid had a big impact to this lovely lodge as we were the only ones staying over weekend. 

Hopefully they will tide through and have more visitors. 

Great weekend stay amid tranquil natural setting  

This was one of our favourite places in Senegal. The straw houses are right on the edge of the Simal waterfront, with its huge sky and expanse of water. There are so many lovely birds chattering away and we were able to swim, kayak and go on a trip in a piroque in the delta. We also took a trip on a horse and cart in to Simal to see the MAHICAO museum, which is really worth the trip.

There is plenty of food at lunch and dinner (maybe a bit too much twice a day!) and it is good, but there is no choice of dishes. However eating while watching the moon come up over the water is a wonderful experience.

Also for those who don’t like insects, ants do come into the lodges, but it is a chance to live more in tune with nature! The ants also have absolutely no interest in human beings! There is also no Wi-Fi, and nothing to do after dinner but sleep – two things we really enjoyed, but might not suit everyone.

Ecolodge in a stunning environment 

Very peaceful spot by the river, with accommodation in traditional huts (but with hot showers and electricity) and a lovely pool for lounging around. Food is good (some of it excellent), large portions so you won't be hungry. The staff were all very friendly, and even came to rescue us when our Dakar taxi got stuck in the sand in the adjacent village. Activities such as boat trips through the mangroves were included in the price. Be aware there is no wifi (which makes for a nice change).

Complete peace.

I just returned from a trip to Senegal with friends, and we included Ecolodge de Simal on our itinerary. I am SO HAPPY that we did. This is an amazing, relaxed property, with a wonderful and attentive staff. The food was amazing each day, and the activities were varied and wonderful. It was great to have access to a pool, we definitely used it more than I though we would. It felt great to go fully off the grid. The accommodations were perfect for our needs, and were truly unique and comfortable. We also stayed at Ecolodge de Lompoul and were able to arrange transfers between the two lodges and Dakar.

Amazing Ecolodge

I just stayed for the weekend in the ecolodge and it was amazing. The place is so peacfull and nice. The staff are very kind and helpfull! Nice and clean rooms. I really liked the bathroom. You can do all kind of activities so you will not get bored. Food was very nice too! 

Perfect weekend

Couldn't be happier with my experience at Ecolodge de Simal. A 3-hour drive from Dakar, it offers a relaxing escape with great service and at a fantastic price. You get your money's worth for roughly $50 per night, with three meals a day (lunch and dinner three courses each), activities (kayaking, horse-riding) and a picturesque, calm setting all included. Hotel staff are very friendly. All in all, a wonderful experience

Charming getaway, great value for money

Had a nice outdoors lunch at the Ecolodge de Simal after coming back from a boat trip through the mangroves on the Saloum Delta as part of a day trip booked through TUI whilst staying at the RIU Baobab.

The scenery was nice and the food was plentiful and tasty

Lunch Visit


This is a place for nature lovers. Lovely cabins with bathroom in the open air.  Breakfast and diner are served next to the water, with splendid view over the mangroves.
Basic food.
The ecolodge offers activities. You need to arrange that during dinner. but these activities only last a few hours, tp get you back for lunch, i think. A full day could not be arranged, because there was no time to prepare,a picknick. (But we dont need a picknick) 
So we went to Ndagane to arrange a daytrip into the reserve. From 9am till 6pm.
We saw ofcourse a lot of birdspecies, but also a mangoust, visited small village in the reserve and went with the pirogue on the open sea close to Djiffer. An adventure.

Best you have your own car. A 4wheeldrive is totally not needed.

On the shores of the Sine

I booked a pre-paid room 2+ months in advance for this property.  When I arrived in Senegal, I was informed by my tour guide that when they tried to reconfirm my reservation that it had been canceled and they claimed to have informed me.  In fact, I was given no warning AND when I followed up by phone and email, I got no response at all -- completely ignored.  This is a completely unprofessional property and I would highly advise against booking here - unless you want your reservation to be canceled out from under you without warning.
