I had fantastic time at Charlotte Villa. John and Salifa are super hosts helpful and professionals, I enjoyed my stay with them. John is fantastic chef the meal he prepared is delicious most try.

The view is simply amazing and the beach is few minutes walk from the villa. A car is a most as the villa is located upon the hill, and restaurants are only few minutes drive away.
Highly recommended this amazing villa!

It was an absolute joy to stay here for 5 days. The whole atmosphere is calm and relaxing. Rooms are equipped with everything we needed: Air conditioner, TV, coffee-making facilitatea, Wifi, mini-fridge. The Villa is located 5min drive to one of the best beaches on Mahe (Anse Royale), on top of a hill and offers great sea view from above. It is surrounded by nature and it is just 3 min walk from the bus stop, supermarket, and 5 min walk from the nearest beach. The room was very spacious, neat, clean and fresh (with a lot of storage space), as well as the balcony. The bed was very big, soft and comfortable. It was a pleasure to have dinner cooked every evening by our lovely host Mr John, who is not only an excellent chef, but also a very friendly, hospitable, approachable, attentive and helpful person who really made us feel like home. I would reccomend this guest house to anyone, anytime. We will definitely come back to this place very soon!

We spent four nights at the Villa Charlotte and everything was fantastic. Sam organized a rental car for us for a good price before we arrived. 
The rooms are spacious, the breakfast more than you can eat and absolutely delicious with a fruit plate, a fantastic omelette with herbs, toasts and very good pancakes. Sam, Happy and the two Anja's made our stay unforgettable and were very friendly hosts! Thank you for everything!! It was a pleasure staying with you!

We spent several nights at the Charlotte Villa in Takamaka and we were very satisfied with our stay, however there are some minor issues that did not heavily bother us, but that we would like to point out to future guests .

Location: Location is perfect to see the whole island! Nearly any place on the island is less than 30 min drive away. We absolutely loved the gorgeous beaches in the South (especially Anse Takamaka, Baie Lazare, Anse Soleil or Anse Parnel just down the street), but also the beaches in the North are accessible (try Port Launay for great snorkeling). You can also easily reach Victoria to visit the market or to go on a boat excursion to the Marine Park or to Praslin.
However, all that absolutely requires a rental car! If you are not planning on renting one, the location can be tricky especially due to the location up on the hill which means a great view, but also a very strenuous walk. I would also advise against walking on the streets after dark as the cars are often driving at very high speed.
Regarding the construction across the street: It did not bother us at all. When we were there workers seem to only be present twice during a whole week, but this can of course change.

Rooms: We had a wonderful room upstairs with a private balcony and a huge bathroom. 
However, not all rooms seem to offer the same amenities as one room does not have a private balcony but opens on the commonly used terrace and one room seemed to only have a bathroom outside. 

Service: Everybody present was very nice and making a huge effort, but there definitely was a certain language barrier so we were lucky to have prepared sufficient information about the beaches, boat excursions, fishing etc. ourselves at home already, because relying on local advice while you are there could be tricky. 
However, room cleaning worked out well, we always had enough towels etc. as well.
Breakfast was great! Thanks for giving us such a nice start into the day!

So, overall, a 4 stars stay for us with some minor issues. If you do not care about these points or if you plan ahead for example by renting a car, this can be your perfect, affordable place to rest your head on Mahe!

Arrived in the evening to a room with a broken tap in the bathroom, poor wifi connection  that your chance of getting internet is in the middle of the night. The oven was so dirty as its self catering.
