Carman House is an absolute gem! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality by the staff, especially Vid, whose friendliness and helpfulness made my stay exceptional. 

The rooms were impeccably clean, providing a comfortable and cozy retreat after a long day of exploring. The location couldn't be better! 

I highly recommend Carman House for anyone looking for a delightful stay with top-notch service.

Exceptional stay!

Had a lovely time staying here while in Bled. It is a family run B&B and every member of staff is so helpful and friendly. 

Room was cosy and clean. We had an amazing view out over the lake towards the church which was a lovely sight to wake up to every morning. 

The attached restaurant is really nice as well - we had breakfast, lunch and dinner during our stay. Breakfast was basic but nice, and lunch and dinner were lovely - guests receive a discount on lunch and dinner as well. We felt the food was better than what we had at the top rated "Old Cellar Bled." 

They have a small dock across the road from the guest house, and you can rent a row boat here to take over to the church. This was a great experience for us, too.

Great place to stay in Bled - food good too!

Stayed here with my husband for 3 nights and wish I had booked for longer. We stayed in a room with a separate kitchenette and lounge area and balcony views right across the lake to Bled Island. The road is a little noisy but with the patio doors closed and the bedroom on the back, you couldn't hear it at all at night. It's about a 15 min walk around the edge of the lake into Bled so perfect location but there is also a lovely restaurant next door and a small shop a few doors away. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend or stay here again.

Lovely Place to Stay

Good accommodation in a perfect location. Room was a bit small and somewhat dated, especially bed and bedding (only one pillow each and too soft), but we were mostly out so it was ok. Place very clean. They rent boats too. Shop and many restaurants nearby.

Enjoyable stay

The hotel is located right on the waterfront; as a result, it offers a great view from those rooms that have a lake view (cost more).

Parking is available next to the building, but there are limited spaces (they are shared with the B&B next door) – book ahead.

From the outside, the appearance is a bit run-down: wooden parts of the exterior (in particular the balconies) need re-painting and make the building look a bit run-down. Inside everything is well-kept, though. 

The reception is a small desk in front of what looks like a multi-use room; it doesn’t quite feel like you are entering a hotel. This is continued when you look for an elevator – there is none...

In the larger rooms on the 2nd floor (the ones with the balcony), you actually have two rooms (bedroom in the back of the house, lounge with sofa-bed front-of-house). The lounge is equipped with fridge, cooking plate, kitchen sink, cooking utensils, plates and cutlery.

Between the two rooms, there is a bathroom with a sauna (!).

The bed was a bit worn out, and only offered a single pillow type. The curtains are too small to cover the entire window front and are translucent, so they do not keep daylight out.

As the main road around the lake passes right in front of the house, it is very noisy during the day if you want to sit on the balcony (the windows are pretty soundproof), but calms down at night.

There are restaurants next door; their terraces can be noisy, but they close at 10 pm.

No breakfast is served; it is possible to have breakfast at the hotel next door, there is a delivery service, and there is a supermarket next door (closes at 6 pm).

The WiFi worked well.

Pros and cons

Overall our stay at Carman House was lovely and the whole experience of Lake Bled was wonderful.  The hotel is in a perfect location and we preferred being in a slightly quieter and more authentic area.  The room we stayed in was certainly a little jaded and the bathroom looked a bit tired, but the shower was great, very powerful and plenty of hot water.  The pillows were dreadful, just puffs of air, so had to place a cushion underneath to give it some 'body'.  When we arrived, we were informed that the air conditioning in our room was out of order and that no engineer was available to fix it, which felt like a bit of a cop out as we were there from Thurs-Sun so surely somebody could have come during that time.  We weren't offered any refund/rebate which was poor, considering we had paid full price to have a room with air conditioning and the fan that was provided as an alternative was very noisy and therefore couldn't be left on during the night.  Opening the window was possible but the noise from the road was constant and loud, so not really an option.  But the staff were very friendly and helpful and we really felt at home at Carman House.  The restaurant next door was fabulous, delicious food and lovely service.  Would definitely book again but maybe a few 'tweaks' to the rooms would be welcome.

Fabulous Lake Bled!

This hotel has the potential to be so much better! My strong impression is that ownership doesn’t wish to put any money into the property.
The good:
The reception staff. Just great. Helpful and courteous, always friendly.
The WiFi had excellent strength.
The not-so-good:
There are stains on the wall, and bed
headboard. These are not expensive to fix- it shows a lack of care on part of ownership.
Air conditioning was very weak - so the
room was not so comfortable during the day, as the sun shone directly in my room.
There is no towel rack in the bathroom-
absolutely nowhere to hang the towel!
Come on, now, how difficult is it to install a hook?! Again, a poor reflection on management / ownership.
The pillows were horrendous. I am in hotels 300 nights per year: hands down, these were the worst pillows of any hotel I have been in. Limp, listless, absolutely no head / neck support. Therefore, I got very poor sleep. Again,
how expensive is it to invest in some quality pillows. Once again, very poor reflection on ownership.
Everything points to they’re making money on the property, so why take the 
effort and expense to improve?

There is no lift ( elevator ), nor safety deposit box in the room.

There is a convenience mart 50m to
the left, but it closes daily @ 1800, and
is not open Sundays.

Overall, this hotel was a huge disappointment. It is certainly adequate, and I would stay there again, but it could be so much better,
with so little effort and cost……

Adequate, but negligent ownership prevents the hotel from easily attained excellence.

Rented a boat from Carmen house boat rental (€20 first hour €12 hour hour after that). Was an amazing experience to row ourselves across to the island and go at our own pace / explore what we felt like. Super friendly and helpful staff and good value for a couple or group considering it is €12 to be in the packed tourist boats

We have very good time during wr stayed at Carmen Guests House in May 2022 ❤️ we are so lucky which have free upgrade the room which direct facing the Lake Bled!! Is really amazing view and superb! The room is nice, bed is comfort,  staff is super friendly and nice! Definitely will return if we back to Slovenia again..highly recommend

Super view direct to Lake Bled 

Absolutely stunning island  view. The guesthouse is right on the lake on the quieter end of the lake. There is a shop nearly we bought fruit, yoghurt and pastries for breakfast. The room was adequate, Wi-Fi worked well, staff were friendly. Nearby there is a stop for the little train that takes you round the lake, €5 to hop on and off all day.
