There are lots of negative reviews on here that I feel are exaggerated and  unfounded. We stayed at Pension Zaka for 2 nights, ate in the cafe/ bar in the evenings and the restaurant for breakfast.

Positives: Superb location on the shore of Lake Bled opposite the town. Quirky hotel that also hosts the Slovenian rowing office (it's next to Bled rowing centre) a restaurant and lakeside cafe/ bar. Helpful staff who spoke sufficient English for us to get by. Car parking available. Good size room (family room for 4 people) with air con, a balcony with lake view and pretty good WiFi. Decent breakfast. The cafe bar served nice pizzas and tasty burgers plus had a good ice cream selection. The prices are reasonable - it's a popular spot. The grassy area by the lake and rowing pontoons gets busy later in the day with people walking round the lake, but there is a nice vibe.

Could be improved: The reception desk wasn't always staffed and it wasn't always that obvious who to seek help from. There are no lifts and the rooms are on the first and second floors, so if mobility is difficult, seek alternative accommodation. Other than this, nothing.

We (London based family of 4) really enjoyed our stay here and would revisit.

Lovely spot on the shores of Lake Bled

Comfortable stay in a superb location. Room had all mod cons. Super friendly staff who looked after us well. Delicious buffet breakfast, but coffee machine needs updating. Thank you for a lovely stay. Perfect spot for swimming and relaxation at Lake Bled.

Zaka Paradise

The service was terrible! It’s seems the boss doesn’t know how to handle the bar and food. He only yells at workers who are really trying but they know the concept it awful. Just heard the waitress told the boss that three customers who were sleeping here, complained that the rooms were dirty, but the boss said he don’t care and yelled at the poor waitress. LSelf service and one worker handle a bar and deliver food at the table. Too expensive for quality and servis, but they are in luck because they are only provider in this area! Try to avoid.

Awful

Food is of bad quality, service unfriendly, prices not at all reasinable for the bad quality of everything. Service slow and it was not bussy. food takes a long time and then it is cold when it is ready. They don't call when it is ready. It seems hospitality seems to be an evil concept for people who work here. If possible stay away from this place.

Stay away

The waitress at the restaurant was terrible. There were only half a dozen tables occupied, still she barely managed. We waited for 15min to order. When she came she was extremely rude, saying that we are wasting her time by thinking too much about ordering. I’ve had just enough and said “you are very rude”, and then she said “fine”, turned and walked away… it was one fo the worst experiences in Bled, which otherwise is beautiful and evverybody else very nice. Don’t know the waitress’ name but she was around 55, blonde.. don’t know why she works in this business.

A Bad experience

Firstly the amount they charge for this place looks like a bargain online until you actually arrive. Location is ideal but miles outside of civilisation. Inside of the hotel looks like it hasnt been cleaned in years. Within 3 minutes of arriving our room, a woman barged in with no warning and started talking to us in Slovenian. The room was average at best but the bathroom was horrific. We didnt have any toilet roll and we couldnt even go in to brush our teeth as the smell was so unbearable. The boiler made a screaming noise ALL NIGHT which kept us up. Very disappointed with this place and wouldnt dare return.

Overpriced and overrated

First of all, the location is great.  Right on the lake, quieter than staying in the town, but walking distance to boat rental and restaurants.  Staff was very busy; perhaps it was a bit understaffed. Front desk is often unoccupied and we had to go to the bar.  But they were always friendly and helpful.  The breakfast was good - lots of variety and satisfied everyone in our party of 5, multiple generations.  Other than breakfast, we did not eat at the restaurant, so I can't comment on that.  The rooms were comfortable and clean and the Internet was reliable.  I would definitely stay here again.

Great Location, Friendly Staff, Clean Room

We stayed here in September for 3 nights. The Location is perfect, easy walking distance to all the attractions around Lake Bled. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony and although the room is simply furnished it is clean and the bed comfortable. Katia who manages the Pension Zaka was very friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant in the evening a couple of times and the grilled fish and meat were excellent. However, the breakfast could improve by offering more choice. All in all a good experience for a very reasonable price for the area.

fantastic location

Food was horrible to say the least. Toilets are dirty not even soap. It's pricey because of its location. That's about it. The chicken burgers were tasteless. It wasn't even cooked properly. Don't go!!

Horrible Food

Stuff don't know how to speak Slovenian, They are rude and they don't bring you food for like 1hour. Terrible. We waited half hour and they didn't bring us menus for 30 minutes. The glasses are dirty. And the stuff smokes and there is a big croud
