Fells like home, small, very clean, friendly. Amazing homemade yogurt. Very quiet and peacfull during the night. Great starting point to local sightseeing atractions. Will come back for sure, next time with our pets, as this place is also pet friendly (even have a pet saloon in the back yard :) )

Great hostel

We were given a warm welcome to this immaculate and homely hostel. Parking spaces available for our rental car and a short drive from Lake Bohinja. Price included a generous and varied buffet breakfast. Good location and helpful friendly hosts.

Excellent hostel

This hostel is the warmest hostel I've stayed so far :) beautiful hosts!
Everything is so perfect about this place, location, parking, cleanliness, friendly, nearer to Lake Bohinj, breakfast, their pets, the best is gave me a return hand painted returned as souvenir.

Superb stay around Lake Bohing

Me and my family stayed at this hostel one night (would stay a bit more, but they were fully booked). The whole family was very friendly, we felt welcome, like we were home at our grandma :) the rooms are so nice and clean, but mostly I liked the small details that decorate the whole house (even in the toilet ::) we are coming back for sure

Family friendly 

A friend and I stayed here on our travels through Slovenia, and he was especially interested in Mt Triglav National Park. As is quite common at Mama Minka, no one was around when we arrived even though I had specified the time. But the door was open and we were able to go in and make a cup of tea while we waited.
The booking was a comedy of errors. I had booked a single room for two, but when the owner saw us he was taken aback. We're quite clearly guys and not gay. He assumed we were a married couple and had given us a room with a double bed. No worries. He went off to consult with his wife and came back to offer us the double bed for me, and an adjoining room for my mate by himself -- same price, which was cheap to begin with (35 euros per night for 2 with breakfast, I think). The suite had a private balcony but it's a hostel, so toilets and showers are shared.After the first night the owner moved us into a 4-person dormitory which we had to ourselves, also for the same price. No complaints.
Breakfast was the usual eastern European affair -- cereal, milk, bread, cheese, preserves etc. First day there was some sliced meat too, but not on the other days. There was also homemade yoghurt in abundance that was great. I had it mixed with Muesli. For the rest of the day the kitchen is completely available and is very well equipped. Even has a dishwasher. First rate. I cooked my dinners her each night. It's a few kilometers to the nearest stores, though.
The region that is called Bohinj on travel sites is really a whole series of villages near and around Lake Bohinj. Mama Minka is in Cesnjica. Check it out on a map before you book. You'll need to get a bus from either the long distance bus stop or the train station unless you're up for a long hike with all your luggage -- possible but not recommended.   
I rented a bike for one day (7 euros) which was a good plan because that was a good way to see the region. I did hike around too, but biking was pretty easy, although there are some steep spots. I'm 65 and have not ridden a bike in 40 years, so if I can do it, you can.
