If you are someone who follows the crowd then this motel is probably not for you. If however you want somewhere slightly different and memorable then book before someone else does. Situated in a renovated house the motel has 2 distinctive rooms. The one we stayed in was full of shabby chic furniture artfully put together much of which gave it a unique and quirky feel. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the rooms were spotlessly clean. We. had our own sitting room,dinning area, kitchen space( no cooker but microwave) and an excellent shower room with plenty of hot water and small terrace. It forms part of the Diesel and Crème cafe which is a destination on Route 62 in its own right. See separate review. If you want to break your journey on Route 62 then the Karoo Moon is an excellent stopover. One of the most memorable hotels I  have stayed in and one of the best for value for money. Don’t hesitate to book.

A great place to stay on Route 62.

The Karoo Moon Motel in Barrydale is a fantastic place to stay on Route 62. The rooms are furnished in an eclectic style and are very comfortable. The attention to detail is amazing. There is plenty of free parking and a great place next door to eat breakfast or lunch at Diesel and Creme. If you're planning to drive along Route 62 you'll be disappointed if you don't book to stay here! Highly recommended.

Fantastic place to stay on Route 62

.... if you're looking for a place to stay in Barrydale, this is your stop.

If you want to be teased by whimsy, arty, quirky without compromising on comfort and little luxurious essentials then this is the place for you. It ticks all those boxes. As all the past reviewers have mentioned.

Easy keyless entry. Dean was the contact person. Always available and helpful with suggestions on where to go and what to do in the lovely interesting town of Barrydale.
Best suggestion was pre dinner drinks at the Karoo Art Hotel. So glad he told us to go there. We happened across an impromptu live music jam session and stayed on for a light pub dinner. So spontaneously perfect. That hotel is a must visit. A veritable visual feast with an incredible array of artworks for sale in every room, nook and cranny. Beautifully restored, recently reopened. 

All in all we had a great stay in Barrydale. I would not have dreamt for it to be any better than it was. 

Go check it out but you have to stay at the Karoo Moon Motel.

Look no further.....

A bit different to your normal accommodation, interesting decor but it all works. The bed in the studio is great. The two air conditioners kept the rooms nice and warm while it was miserable outside. It is well stocked with all the necessities, even a Nespresso machine with a couple of pods. Being next door to the Diesel and Creme diner is also a plus.

Something a bit different

We absolutely loved our stay at The Karoo Moon Motel. The accommodation was beautiful, very eclectic and each piece of furniture and decor carefully selected to give a homely and warm feeling. Beautiful linen on the beds, electric blankets, fireplace and fully equipped kitchen. Amazing attention to detail. The owner went out of his way to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. We will definitely be back and highly recommend to couples or families!

Loved!

We stayed in both motel the suite & the studio which opened into one large area which sleeps 5.
Upon entering we were amazed at all the small touches that make the place so special - electric blankets, rusks, Nik Naks & Frito chips, games, milk in the fridge and the lemongrass water purifier.
The decor is Karoo style and quirky.
The beds were soooo comfy, with gorgeous Country Road linen and puffy duvets.
We will definitely return here!

What a treat!

We were two couples that booked both rooms in the Karoo Moon Motel. (Two x double beds + 1 x single bed in the lounge area) 
Definitely not your usual Motel.
The two rooms with an inter leading door, each have a kitchenette, with all the amenities you want. The bathrooms with toilets, basens have a walk in shower is wonderful. The mattresses, king size, and bedlinen are devine and the interior is decorated in an eclectic fashion with a lot of interesting focal points.
There are a lot of interesting, shops, restaurants and a boutique beer brewery in walking distance.
The staff is very very friendly and helpful, as you will only find in the Karoo.
We will definitely return for another weekend breakaway. 

Greatest stay on the R62 

What a lovely stopover option! We were lucky enough to be able to book into the Suite for the night and loved the place. Some really nice finishes and a super comfy bed for the night left us feeling refreshed and ready for the next part of journey. Definitely will book in again on our next trip out this way.

A gem of a place

I have no idea where the owners found all the crazy beautiful decor, but it makes for an amusing, amazing stay! There's no way you can be bored at Karoo Moon, they've thought of absolutely everything... Don't miss out! Make this part of your roadtrip through the Karoo or go there for an unusual romantic getaway... Highly recommend 👌

High Kitch Comfort

Very interesting guest house. My husband and I stayed overnight in the suite. Decor of the suite takes one back to a bygone era. Every piece artfully displayed makes this suite very special. Towels were thick and fluffy but sadly there was no hot water and we could not have a shower.
