Good welcome and nice to exchange with Nicola who seems to be in love in France except for the price of the hotel in Paris! 😉
We booked via booking and everything was aligned with the description. 
The advice for the restaurant « la flambee » was very good too.

Nice welcome

My family and I tried cancelled our trip as one of us had contracted covid. Nicola told us that she didn’t care if we had covid and also that we should still come. Covid spreads when people are irresponsible like this.

Appalling service

I booked very last minute when stranded in Barrydale due to a Cape storm. Hostess Nicola basically rolled out the red carpet for me and my friend. 
We requested twin beds and she actually upgraded us to the upstairs apartment with its views of the surrounding mountains and her tranquil garden with its beautiful bird song. 

Despite being self-catering, Nicola had prepared a feast of fresh produce for us: an array of fruit, yoghurt, croissants, home-made jams and chicken pâté, etc etc. She even managed to bring us delicious coffee and hot water (for tea) at breakfast - despite load shedding! 
Thank you, Nicola, it was blissful! 

What a haven!

On the way to Cape Town we decided to stopover in Barrydale and spend the night at The Whitehouse. This turned out to be a great decision, as Nicola is a wonderful and charming host who really made my wife and I feel welcome and at home. The property is extremely well maintained and has a lovely garden. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and spacious. There was also a welcoming fruit platter in the room which was very nice. For dinner we had an excellent meal at the Mez which Nicola recommended and booked for us. A special mentioned must be made of the breakfast, which was absolutely superb. We definitely hope to be back again.

Excellent 1 night stay

We enjoyed our visit and Nicola the owner gave us a few laughs as she is so direct. She booked us into a wonderful restaurant called Mez. Loved the 3 course dinner. Enjoyed walking to the restaurant after it had just rained for the first time in years. Lovely town. Nicola makes a very good breakfast and we sat outside which was lovely. Looking forward to our next visit.

Stylish and Interesting guesthouse

One of the most extraordinary houses I've ever been to. The rooms, the furnishing, the garden, the breakfast and most of all, the lovely landlady Nocola, who really makes you feel at ease. Don't mind eventual spiders, as they are harmless. I really hated to leave this house, despite my wonderful onward journey. 

Escape to the Cape

Nicola was a very charming and friendly hostess.It was  pleasing to know that she reserves you a table at a fabulous restaurant,Mez's Place,as the restaurants often close early here,we had already booked anyway.
The breakfast was outstanding with fresh local produce and the pool was lovely after our drive down from the Garden Route and it was a nice change that Nicola said that swimming costumes were optional.

Excellent b&b

Great place to stay with a perfect hostess.
We had a very warm welcome, she had already booked a restaurant for the evening knowing that otherwise finding something to eat in Barrydale on sunday evening would have been difficult.
The house is old but in perfect shape, thick walls keep it nice and cool without needing airco.
But the best is Nicola‘s breakfast. Delicious, rich and healthy.
A place to be recommended.

Nice place to stay

Great place to stay. Nicola had spent some Time in Ireland in a very famous cookery school (ballymaloe). Well the breakfast didn’t disappoint! There were so many home made products and Nicola added little touches from veg and herbs in her garden! The beds were extremely comfortable and it boasted a nice outdoor pool on the deck. Nicola is very friendly and made our stay memorable.

Loved staying here as it was very quiet and extremely comfortable. Nicola was very friendly and helpful. She booked us into a restaurant called Mez which was fantastic. 
Nicola cooked us an amazing breakfast - so decorative and very tasty. Would definitely recommend staying here.
