I had a great time when visiting the ABBA Game lodge for 3 days with a companion. It was lovely and tranquil and it was great that we could have a long hike during which we saw antelope, including a giraffe close - up and did not have to go to the expense of having to pay for a game drive. The presence of 4 types of buck right in between the chalets and caravans and the nice large spacing between chalets and camping sites really adds tremendously to the lovely atmosphere as well as the large dam near the pool and bar / reception area. The fact that this resort is pet friendly was an important factor in me choosing this resort for a year end break, since I have an old dog that is very attached to me and does not react well to being left at home or being put into a dog hostel.

I should have gone through all of the reviews before making a booking and wasting my money on this resort.

First off all, the road to get to the location is horrible.
Make sure you have a bakkie or SUV that can handle the dirt road.
The pictures uploaded were from 2017, you should see how it looks now.
There is no maintenance on the place, the swimming pools were green and smelled like pond water.
The little golf course was not maintained, the chess section was not maintained.
The rooms are too hot, there was only a ceiling fan and one portable fan (Asked the owner why do they not install aircons in these chalets as it is in Limpopo and can get very hot, the reason on her side was because "I do not have money for it", but we were charged over R23K for the 4/5 nights....
So not sure where all the money is going to.
Also, keep in mind no coverage and no wifi, they will say they have wifi but it is only in the reception area. (Pointless)

I said to the owner that I will rather look at another place to book and she stated that they are the cheapest in the area...
Not true, we ended up booking a 5 bedroom house in Modimoli for R16K for the rest of the nights which was simply amazing, the swimming pools were clean, very friendly owner and staff, wifi, fans in every room and very cozy.

In anycase upon arrival, the gardeners decided to cut our grass by our chalet, it shipped a few paint on my car and shot us with stones while busy unpacking.
I asked them just to wait so that we can unpack and move the car, they looked at me and continued with the grass cutting.
I mean, if you know you have customers coming at a certain time or day make sure beforehand that the place is in tip top shape.

We slept over for one night as it was not what we expected for the price.
I asked the admin in front and the owner for a refund of my money and the owner started ranting on that she will not give any refund back.

I said to her that it is in your T's and C's that you do not refund the deposit but the rest you can refund, she refused.
I went back to our chalet and started packing that morning, went to go give in the keys and she stated that she will give me R8k back, I said that would be great.
They ended up only refunding me R6K.....

Very very dishonest.
To be quite honest, this place should not exist anymore as the "Owner" does not care about the customers, only the money...
Remember, the customers are the ones that bring in the money...
Keep your customers happy.

Worst Place

The resort is beautiful and the staff pleasant. The callet was clean. We would definitely go there again,  if you like quiet and very little cell service, then this is the place. We had a great time at Abba.

Really enjoyable and relaxing

Although it was a rainy weekend the staff did not disappoint with helping us to enjoy our stay the place was clean and the nature between the camp sites was well looked after and everything was just amazing I will definitely visit again 👌🏻

Very Happy

Peaceful and quiet out in the bush. No cellphone reception, so a good opportunity to disconnect.
The chalets are small. We stayed in the 6 sleeper. 2 of the beds are in a small alcove in the passage, with no storage space for clothes. There is a fan in living area, but none in the sleeping area which is not ideal.
The kids really enjoyed the pool.
All in all, we had a pleasant stay, but it was overpriced.

Nice location, but overpriced.

We really enjoyed our camp at Abba - we were the only campers at the site! The campsite has a lot of potential, but it needs a little care to lift it up a bit. The lapa's at the camp sites are great, and all the sites are grass covered. The fishing spots were lovely. The pool is very nice, but it was a bit green, could be more blue. The warm pool was not very functional :)

The 15km gravel road will make you hold your breath but the minute you get into the warm pools of ABBA Lodge, you realise that you are in the wilderness, with Bucks running wild next to you as you walk to your chalet. A true unique African experience 

Wild Weekend Getaway for Family & Friends

During rainy season not only are the access roads a major challenge but the lodge also lacks in activities and entertaining.There is no cell phone signal and the WiFi is only available in the bar area but not the greatest of connections so if you are planning on getting some work done and calls made rethink your plans. The cleanliness of the apartment needs more detail, the linen is very old and definitely not inviting.

Tranquil setting refrain from visits during rainy season

Overall a nice stay in lovely surrounding. Took an hour walk in the morning which I enjoyed. Please consider either network or wifi near the units, thank you. Reception also excellent, thank you Chantel. 

Peaceful and quiet

Thank you again for the hospitality the great service we got from management and their staff . We really had a great time with our family and friends . A good place for all types of occasions thats Abba game Lodge
