If you want to get away from the hustle and bussle of city life why not spend some down time at a working farm like Soeterus.   You will wake up to the sound of birds in the trees and while you sip on your morning coffee enjoy the sight of the mountains in the distance.   The air is clean, and you will be surrounded by the wonders of nature.   It's a short drive into town for a meal at one of the many restaurants, or a wine or port tasting on the surrounding farms, or you can simply choose to stay put, read a book, watch the springbok prance by. or scratch the world famous  sheep Johnny's head

Tranquility at it;s best

Our 4th visit this year. Twice when the previous owner Jamesly was there - just have to mention how Jamesly helped us over and above when my husband had a TIA  on our first evening in 2018 and had to go to hospital in George. Last two visits we have enjoyed the warm friendly welcome of Olivia and George and of course Jonny the ram and his ever-growing harem of lovely sheep! Joined by 3 springbok this year - makes for a fascinating mini safari! Beautiful views and sunsets. Relax by the lovely big pool visited by swifts of an evening. The extension of a dining room has added to its charm with huge picture windows to shelter should the weather be inclement. We always have the honeymoom suite (been married 42 years!) and enjoy the private terrace for picnics and sundowners. Olivia and George are very friendly, welcoming and helpful for activities in the area. But really you don't have to travel far and wide - just enjoy the peace.

Peace and views

This Guest Farm is an absolute MUST DO !! The hospitality of George & Olivia is outstanding; the rooms are perfect with great views and the breakfast is of high quality. The owners know everything about the environment and they give great advices for restaurants etc etc

What a lovely surprise , a most enjoyable and pleasant fresh alternative . I  was on route from Durban to CT , having stopped the previous night in Colesberg , I left early on the N1 to CT but elected to take a more enjoyable route so off ramp at Prince Albert road , drove through PA and about 2 Km out of PA did a right and drove up and over the Swartberg pass ( all gravel ) - most enjoyable and amazing experience . then once over the pass did a right and went into Caltizdorp for a wine tasting to settle the nerves at BOPLAAS winery . A delightful experience , winery is run by the Nel family , very well priced and enjoyable options for purchase . Then just 3 KM down the road spent the evening at Soeterus - very clean and very well positioned accommodation in renovated old building - very well run by owner - will return and is recommended -the price did include a breakfast , but only available form 08H30 onward ... a little late for me so departed next morning to CT  on the R62 , passing through Barrydale - had breakfast here which was fit for a king at "the country Pumpkin " a must do,  amazing people and the FOOD who - lovely old style ...

short stay at Soeterus Guest Farm - Calitzdorp

Lovely farm in a quaint town. Excellent attentive hosts who were very welcoming. Only downside was the heat in the rooms at night with only a fan (and unfortunately the flea bites I left with). Would be nice to have aircons.

Holiday stop over

George, Olivia and Soeterus is a fantastic combination, what a great fasility, environment and the best hosts one can ask for. If Calitzdorp and area in on your destination list, you need to include Soeterus Guest Farm as your accomodation requirement.

Karoo Greatness

We arrived late, Olivia was very accommodating and the rooms were spotless.  We woke up to a beautiful view and lovely breakfast which included a vegan meal for our daughter.  We loved stroking the sheep after breakfast.  Thank you to both Olivia and George for being so hospitable.

Beautiful spot

Few hotels would be able to match the attentive service Olivia and George provide their guests. Nothing is too much trouble and they take delight in their guests' wellbeing. We were even able to braai there on our last night.

The setting is 100% farm, complete with a field of sheep and lambs and the vineyard next door. The pool is spotless (as is everything) and there is lots of space and a jungle-gym for kids. The rooms were fabulously cool in the heat and well equipped.

The location is a short drive out of Calitzdorp, but the spacious, country setting more than makes up for that.

Country hospitality - nothing too much trouble

The only suggestion is to change the the shower curtain to shower doors. 
Bedding and bed was very nice.
Our suggestion is to keep the lapa breakfast and TV room open till later at knight for people to kuier and watch TV or sit next to the nice fireplaces.  It was closed when we return from dinner.

Over knight

We had a perfect couple of days at Soeterus, the room was spacious, spotless and had everything we needed. New owners George and Olivia were friendly, attentive and helpful hosts and have built a beautiful kitchen/dining room/lounge area for guests with indoor braai facilities and panoramic views over the farmland to the nearby Gorge.

I can't think of anything I would change - Thankyou!
