A beautiful guesthouse. Walking distance from the main campus. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Helen and Johan are amazing hosts. The place is very neat and tidy. Helen goes the extra mile in preparing breakfast. Caters well for vegetarians too. The room also has a mini fridge and microwave and some basic utensils. Great for people attending conferences or workshops at University of Cape Town. I really loved this place.

Convenience for UCT or short stay

Jenny and Johan made my husband and I feel welcome from the moment we arrived in Cape Town. Jenny and Johan organised for her trusted driver to pick us up from the airport. The Guest House is located in a beautiful leafy suburb close to the University, Table Mountain hikes and the Botanical gardens. The rooms are very clean, well equipped and the breakfast was superb.

Whenever I had a question Jenny was happy to advise, we felt safe!

There are lovely restaurants, cafes and shops nearby and the V and A Waterfront was a short ride away. We were introduced to other guests and felt welcome at all times. An exceptional reasonably priced Guest House. We will go back for sure!!!!

Weekend at UCT

I visited Cape Town for a conference and booked my stay online with hotels.com, same-day because my flight had been cancelled. Payment made, I rang the number for 2 hours (mobile number) to confirm I was coming. No answer. I got there in the evening and rang the bell, and I had to deal with a woman who says she is  the owner and who was extremely rude. I have to say I only dealt with lovely people in Cape Town, so I was so shocked. She sort of treated me as if I was a thief and said I hadn't booked the room, that I was not welcome, and I should leave now. She sounded like she was going to call the police on me. Woaw. Basically, the gate never opened and I was properly kicked out of the door front. She wouldn't let me say a word and kept on asking me to leave. 

She kept on saying said I had not done the booking but my bank statement said otherwise.

The taxi was kind enough to lend me his phone and suggest other places and before midnight, I found another hotel, more modest but humane, which really is what counts as far as I'm concerned.

Rude owner

This is definitely a home away from home. Jenny and her staff went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We arrived early but felt welcome as they arranged for us to stil settle in. Breakfast was served early with a smile and the signature fruit an yogurt to die for. My daughter was playing in an tournament and received a delicious smoothie to be ready for her day with extra energy. Rooms are neat and comfortable. Location is key and we will definitely be back to visit this amazing guest house in a quiet area.

Stay for tennis tournament 

I stayed at the Knightsbury for 3 nights. When I arrived it was a bit grey outside (would you expect anything less for Cape Town winters) and Jenny had warmed up my room for me. How thoughtful is that?! It was my first time staying in Rondebosch and I had such a lovely stay! Jenny is such a wonderful host! So intuitive and attentive, always available to assist and super friendly. Johan prepared amazing breakfasts each morning and Jenny ensured I was proper [over]fed but satisfied. I absolutely recommend staying here when visiting Cape Town and I will definitely be knocking on their door again!

Warm Stay with Awesome Breakfast!

You should book in advance and be on the road with your own car, which you can safely park on the grounds. Good connection to the motorway to the city or in all other directions. Greener, quiet district, Kirstenbosch botanical garden is a few minutes away. We were always welcome to spend an hour in the beautiful garden and have a little conversation. Breakfast is legendary. A visiting tip 10 minutes away in the university campus is the museum and former studio/residence of the artist Irma Stern.

Very friendly operators, well-maintained facility and great breakfast.

Let's start with the great location. The guest house is on a quiet street, where the leaves of the trees are ablaze with color during these cool months. But it's only a four-minute walk from Main Road, where you can find a Woolworths, a Pick n Pay, a Clicks, a Checkers, a bookstore, and a number of restaurants. So you get the best of both worlds.
   My room was spacious enough, and was well-lit and well-appointed--and had lots of outlets (which is key when you travel with multiple devices). Perfect for my two days and nights.
   But Johan and Jenny are the stars of the show. Jenny was kind enough to accommodate my need for a big bed (I'm very tall), and then was gracious enough to print out a document for me before I arrived. Then she let me stay just a bit later than the scheduled checkout time, allowing me to run an important errand.
   And Johan's breakfasts are extraordinarily good--fresh ingredients, plentiful portions, all beautifully prepared and presented. (The warm baked apple on a bed of muesli and natural yogurt is exquisite.)
  I've been to Cape Town several times, and this is my new favorite place to stay. I only wish I'd known about it sooner.

A terrific stay

I stayed at Knightsbury twice whilst visiting Cape Town for work - two nights, and then one night - and I therefore was able to experience two of their room options. For the longer stay, I was in a large room with a queen bed, with a fantastic walk in shower. The single night stay was spent in a smaller room with a single bed and corner shower. Both rooms were always clean and more than sufficient for my needs, though the smaller room, being next to the entrance was noisier to stay in if you're a fan of sleeping in. For a longer stay, I would suggest booking one of the larger room options, purely for extra comfort and more space to move around/work.

Complimentary WiFi is available and is of sufficient speed to do work.

Breakfast is provided daily and on this count there was truly superb service - although there is a set breakfast for the day, all dietary requirements are taken into account when you check in, and if you find you don't like something, the hosts go out of their way to provide another option. The breakfast area is intimate, with four separate tables - only when the guesthouse is full would you perhaps need to share a table with a stranger. It wasn't full during my visits.

Parking is available inside the property, though space is limited. Street parking immediately outside the property seems safe as the area is quiet.

All in all, I had a wonderful, albeit short, visit. I'd highly recommend this guesthouse for anyone wanting a bit of a breather when visiting CT. The area is quiet in the evenings, but close to restaurants. ~3 minute walk to the Baxter Theatre, ~10 minute walk to UCT's Upper Campus.
