What a dreadful and disappointing stay at this complex. 
We arrived the air con was not working. Rang reception. Engineer sent. Fixed!! No it wasn’t. It was obvious they knew it didn’t work as there were already fans in the rooms. I kept complaining about it   Engineer sent twice more. Kept saying it’s OK now. It wasn’t. I told them my disabled husband needed a constant cool temperature particularly in this type of heat. 
Apart from air con issue whole apartment was shabby, dirty, sockets did not work , to remote did not work so could not watch TV . Promised a new remote never arrived. Fridge door did not shut and the glass bathroom door again did not shut had to lift it to be able to open and close it. The staff on reception were less than helpful I eventually got a manager to come and look at the state of the apartment. After 4 out of a 7 day stay he agreed we needed to be moved. So next day moved to a better more modern apartment..
Just be careful and know what you are booking as other reviews have said many of the apartments are in serious need of upgrading. Home to home seem to be the main rental firm for these apartments and asmImsaid not particularly helpful when you make a valid complaint. 
We will not return despite its good location

Avoid. Dreadful apartment and management company

What a letdown. Not a cheap option therefore you expect a little bit more. Apartment wasnt clean. Several hairs from possibly previous tenant all over the place. The floor covered with hair. Even in the kitchen. In one bathroom the waterleak in the ceiling was huge and brown. Has been there for a long time. The place needs some cleaning and sprucing up. Couches are old and dated. All glass surfaces not clean.

A let down….

Stayed in an apartment in Marina Village. They are spacious very clean and reasonably priced. Loads of restaurants an bars all within easy reach. The ocean race for super yachts started from the so there was a great buzz about the place. Recommend Den Anker as a great gastronomy pub with excellent food and atmosphere. Sth Africa is very inexpensive

Brilliant place

We stayed at 401 Dovenby Marina from the 7th to the 11 the for the Africa Tech Conference. Our host Thando was an absolute delight, the apartment was clean, serviced and best views! If anyone is thinking about booking at the Marina Thando is the best hostess ever! All your needs are met and she doesn't disturb you in any way.

We have been going back to the V&A Waterfront every year around the same time for the past 10 years and have noticed that some of the standards in some of the apartments are now deteriorating and value for money is not always the same. 
In our case the dishwasher was dirty and not maintained, no bedside carpets (floors not clean) and Airconditioning not working. Ceiling fans not working either. At least the weather was pleasant and the view over the yacht basin is beautiful. 
A great property that needs to be looked after. 

 Apartment maintenance and upkeep is not 5 star. 

We arrived in Cape Town and stayed in the V&A Waterfront Accommodation for 7 days.  There is great access to the nearby markets and V&A Waterfront Shopping Centre allowing easy access to get food and drink along with a number of restaurants.  

There is easy access to both the Red and Blue lines of the CitySightseeing busses allowing you to see Cape Town in all of its beauty.  The incredible backdrop of Table Mountain is sublime too say the least.  Other nearby attractions include the Two Oceans Aquarium and the Watershed which has many sculptures and memorabilia on offer. 

The accommodation feels exclusive as there are gates to get in and out which require card access along with security guards.

There is a canal going through with the high-rise apartments either side which is very scenic and beautiful whist walking in the evening.

The room we stayed in had Wi-Fi; was spacious and had a very homely feel to it, we were all very happy and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great Accommodation, Beautiful City

Liked:- Beautiful, clean and spacious Apartment with wonderful views.  
Location excellent. 

Disliked:- The Check-in procedure was terrible. We had to wait for more than an hour in the sun for the new paperless system to be completed. I know this is to help us with security, but surely, like in the past years the relevant details could have been captured before our arrival.  

The WiFi did not work. After several request the router was replaced but only work the next morning. After a day the data was finished and we had to request again. If WiFi is advertised, it needs to be checked and sorted before arrival.

Beautiful Views 

For tourists, this is an extremely handy location to be based when you're travelling around Cape Town city and surrounding areas.
The caveat is that the prices can be a bit high in terms of Rand spending power.

A beautiful and convenient location

Be careful booking through this property on the Tripadvisor site - I clicked through the link on TripAdvisor to book an apartment and had smooth communication with people pretending to represent the apartments & secured our booking with a deposit - when we arrived in Cape Town the apartments did not exist and we could no longer contact the people who had been 'helping' to arrange our stay. Out the deposit and a place to stay in Cape Town.

Be aware of scam

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for a week, it had everything needed for a self catering stay including a washing machine and dish washer. We overlooked the marina, it was great to sit on the balcony watching the playful seals and the swing bridge lifting to let boats pass, the sun was there in the morning. After an overnight flight from Heathrow, we were hoping our room might be available, unfortunately it wasn't, we had to return a few hours later at 3pm, they did store our luggage. When the apartment was ready, we were driven to our apartment and helped with our luggage.
As others have mentioned, it was very secure, we had to use our passes to get in and out having previously had our photo taken on arrival. We hadn't been told but by watching people walking to the shops/restaurants we realised there was more than one entrance. We walked towards the one and only hotel and used that gate as it was quicker than walking to the main gates and all around. Location was excellent, close to the aquarium and HOHO office/bus stop, shops, bars and restaurants. 
We asked for a late check out as we had a late flight home, we were disappointed to be told it wasn't possible, but understood it's not always available. It was a long walk back to reception with our luggage, once there, they were happy to store it until our transfer arrived. I would happily stay again.
