We booked to stay in apartment 205 canal quays for 6 nights  and it was the worst accommodation experience we have ever had. As soon as we walked in we noticed an overpowering smell of curry, the decor was like low level drug dealer chic and it was filthy. There was no hairdryer, cutlery, clothes airer etc etc and what cups and plates there were were dirty and caked with grime. The blinds were broken and hanging down and the sofas were so dirty you would need a shower after sitting on them. They promised a gym in the building which didn’t exist. Worst of all was the balcony doors that were faulty and didn’t lock. Not being able to lock your doors at night in South Africa is terrifying. We did our best by using cable ties but the manager of the apartment didn’t help us at all and just refused to answer messages. The person who manages the property was beyond awful and we left after one night. Please do not book that apartment it is truly awful and if you don’t get robbed then you’re likely to pick up an infection from the filth. We would give zero if we could

Much better than a standard hotel room. Stayed in room 606 for two nights. It has all the basic facilities like tea, coffee and bathroom amenities. Lovely view, security and is well furnished with parking. 
Conveniently close to Foreshore and CBD for business.
Negatives are it's nowhere near restaurants. You need to Uber. Also no option for breakfast. 
WiFi was a bit slow.

Much better than a standard hotel room

I booked on 18.9.20 Canal Quays Apartments ref; 3844318949.  They took €612 as a deposit.  Due to Covid 19 and the ban on travel which still applies to South Africa from Ireland I cancelled on 8.2.21.  Despite a promise of a refund within 90 they have not made the refund.  They are also ignoring my e-mails.  I would not recommend that you book with this organisation.  They fail to honour their commitments.

This Organisation Home From Home Do Not Repay Deposits

We spent the night at Canal Quays room 402 studio apartment last night.The apartment has all you need for a stay,bathroom is good with nice size shower.Lounge area comfortable with well equipped kitchen with all appliances you would need for a longer stay.The balcony is a fair size with a view of the canal.
Only negative was the bed,the mattress needs to be replaced,its super soft with a dent in the center causing one to roll towards the center of the bed,not comfortable when sleeping as a couple.


Evening in the City

I have no idea whether this hotel is good or bad, I never got there and never will
I booked two rooms on a fully refundable rate but had to cancel as we cannot travel because of Covid 19
We cancelled on 30th July but have still nearly 3 months later not received the £500 plus we paid as deposit
Made numerous attempts to contact only made contact once a month ago when told payment on its way
Still not received and will not answer phones.
Hoping they’ve not gone bust !!
Clearly we will not be staying here when we finally get to travel to South Africa again

Beautiful place amazing views located centrally . Very comfortable. Kitchen spacious   We truly enjoyed our stay and will def be back. There is a pool on the first floor . We had some guest unfortunately they were not allowed up to the rooms however they allowed them to sit in the foyer

Lovely place

Booking dates were moved unilaterally by Home from Home, ruining a family gathering that was planned last June already. Spent the weekend separated from family that were booked in another apartment.  We were then moved by them to a city center apartment that was terrible - noise of clubs and disco's going through the night, staying on the 8th floor and elevator not working, very awkward and impractical furniture, a/c not working etc. No effort made to repair the elevator throughout the weekend, had to climb the stairs up to 4 times a day. 

Huge disappointment

Where to start ....
Firstly what an amazing experience we had in Cape Town and our apartment at Canal Quays set the tone for the holiday.
As soon as we got to the apartments at midnight check in was a breeze we were shown to our own secure parking bay beneath the building with a lift to our apartment on the 6th floor.
The apartment itself was spacious well equipped and very clean.
A lovely large balcony to sit and take in the view of the cruise ships that docked and Cape Town stadium in the distance.
Handy for the water taxi to the V and A waterfront as it stops outside our building.
It was kept clean and tidy by the staff fresh towels daily and bedding changed.
The apartment had a fully equipped kitchen and washer and dryer to which my made full use of (no big wash when we got home)detergent provided.
Overall a fantastic location our first apartment stay (normally hotels)but definitely not our last.

Fantastic Base

This is the second time we stayed at 501 Canal Quays in 2 years. We loved it the first time and we still love it.  The apartment is spacious, well-managed, clean, safe and the location is perfect.  It's close to everything on the Atlantic Seaboard and within easy walking distance of the V&A Waterfront.  Access to the rest of the Western Cape is easy as the N1 and N2 highways are easily accesible froem the apartment. Newton and Nadia were excellent hosts and catered to our every need. We will definitely stay there again on our next trip !!

Another excellent stay at 501 Canal Quays

The apartment is very neat and has everything you need. Conveniently close to amenities. The kids were thrilled with the pool and boat rides taking you to V&A Waterfront on the canal.We really enjoyed our stay!
