My husband and I recently got married and we were doing a mini honeymoon in Cape Town. We booked this hotel but unfortunately had a death in his immediate family and we had to urgently come back to London which meant we could not stay at the hotel. We were staying at another hotel at the time and they were so gracious and compassionate but I certainly cannot say the same about SW1 Lodge. We explained the situation and were told that they would call us back once they had spoken to management- of course this did not happen and given that we had booked through Expedia, we escalated it to them. Expedia spoke to the hotel and their feedback to us was that the hotel said they would not refund us - Expedia told us that they were unhappy with the response from the hotel and were going to escalate it on their side as this is a situation that we could not control and having some compassion to such a situation is what was expected from them too. 

We had stayed at another hotel (Atlantic View in Camps Bay) which we also had to cut short and they were incredibly kind and refunded the remainder of the stay due to the circumstances but SW1 Lodge did not and this is just unacceptable - I know a lot of people who go to Somerset West and I absolutely would never recommended such a place to anyone given the situation. 

Lack of compassion and horrid service

My husband and I booked at this lodge last minute when we had a terrible experience at another hotel. The owners of the lodge were so accommodating and made sure that we were comfortable. 

The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and clean clean clean!!! The staff at the lodge are so accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was delicious and prepared by the owners of the lodge- we loved the personal touch! 

Thank you SW1 Lodge for an unforgettable stay! We look foward to returning soon. 

Perfection!

Lovely place & really friendly staf ! They gave us à warm feeling! Nice room, clean, and a lovely pool. We enjoyed our stay here! The breakfast was really fresh with good products. A must visit logde in a beautiful area! 

Lovely stay!

We stayed here for 3 fantastic nights but this was not long enough. A very warm welcome from the extremely friendly and attentive staff set the tone. Our room was gorgeous - large, comfortable bed, huge bathroom, thoughtful amenities and excellent WiFi. The public rooms were awesome with a fabulous pool area and simply amazing grand room. Breakfast was superb and the location is very convenient to restaurants, etc with Uber being very easy and cheap to use.

A beautiful place to stay

I can highly recommend SW1 Lodge. Our room was even better than it looked on the website. We enjoyed a high quality relaxing weekend (quite possibly the most comfortable bed I've had away from home) in the care of excellent, attentive staff who were prepared to wake up at night to let us in after our party finished late. Top marks to Ed, John and the rest of the staff!

Excellent Stay in Somerset West

Had a lovely stay at the lodge with my husband. The lodge is perfect for a relaxing break. The staff took excellent care of us during our getaway. They helped us with any needs we had. Breakfast we excellent. The rooms were clean. Will definitely return in the future.

Yes, I truly enjoyed my stay at SW1! It’s a quiet stilish and cozy lodge, well positioned. The room was extremely clean and comfortable, real luxury 😊 service efficient and kind, felt at home! Would love to return soon with my wife for a nice relaxing weekend in the Cape. Well done

What a stunning accommodation. Home from home. The rooms, personal attention , food was like a  five star hotel experience.  Highly ,highly recommend for either business or leisure stay . We will be back for sure.

What an incredible place to stay. If you are looking for the true spirit of Africa this is the place to go. The rooms are beautifully decorated with african art. Each room has its own unique decor. The rooms are plush with everything you could want in them. The beautiful ladies came out to meet us at the car and helped us with our baggage, and honestly couldn't do enough for us. Their attention to our needs was wonderful. They upgraded our room  to a magnificent room at the front of the Lodge as I was on crutches on arrival. The cold breakfast buffet was lovely with everything you could wish for and then a lovely hot cooked breakfast followed. Thank you Ed and your team for a wonderful stay at your beautiful Lodge. We will be back.
