The camping site is very comfortable, not  like the pictures though, it's a bit run down but lovely none the less. We were at Golden Valley 8 and the step down the jetty was dangerously steep, I would not recommend even though the privacy is good. We would definitely return to another plot closer to the river. Everything else was fantastic. Thanks 

Golden Valley Review

A beautiful camping spot alongside the river, with a "no mess no fuss" promise that all your camping needs are covered in the per night price.  Mixed feelings because while the staff were super helpful and very accessible, I was underwhelmed by a few things.

Outdoor furniture could do with a clean when guests are expected - spider webs for days -  and some simple camping essentials were missing, especially when it's sold as an "all you need for camping" set up. Like a knife thats actually sharp, a chopping board, a clothing line, more than 1 small pot for a site that caters 8 sleepers, etc. So I guess some basic upkeep is what it lacks.  For the cost per night, I think it's a fair ask. All of these, and more would be included at a good Air B&B for the same cost per night. 

Wood's expensive and low quality so take your own along, and the use of a canoe per site should really be included instead of a per hour fee - given that the river is the primary activity. That said, the kids had a blast being free in nature, and the above may be a non-issue for many. Not sure I'd return, #mixedfeelings.



Mixed Feelings 

The glamping tents are everything you need for a relaxing stay close to nature. It's close to a lot of other amenities and the canoes and river just adds that extra special experience. Would definitely recommend this spot!

Great stay close to nature

This is a lovely setting next to the river, the idea of the villages are excellent but the execution poor.

This is definitely not glamping but rather camping without having to pitch your own tent.  We stayed at Noordhoek Village for the weekend. The kitchen equipment is very basic. The ablution stalls needs a lot of attention we had no hot water all weekend despite staff trying to fix the gas geyser multiple times. Ticks and insects were all over the ablution stall.

The place is in dire need of some proper maintenance and cleaning.

Camping not glaming

We stayed at Wolfkop Biesiesvlak. Sadly not as pictured on the website. Our camp was very outdated compared to what is promised on the photos. Felt like we stayed in a camp that was no longer in use and not part of the main tent village.  Utensils/Kitchen need a good cleaning and update.
Nature surroundings are beautiful, but sadly not worth the money you pay.

This site was so incredibly peaceful with breath taking views. The wild life on the other side of the river was awesome to witness. my only small complaint would be to upgrade the bathroom stalls a bit, they were not bad, but could be better.

One peaceful weekend

Lovely stay in nature! We were a group of 23, and everyone enjoyed the beautiful nature. Only issue we had was, due to an electricity outage in the area, we did not have power for the last evening of our stay. This was a bit traumatic, as it was very dark, and we had to use our cell phones to navigate the evening. I would suggest Wolfkop management invest in diesel generators, and some emergency lighting, as power outages will be the norm in the future. Note, this was not load shedding, but a general Eskom power outage, that affected a large part of the Citrusdal/ Clanwilliam. etc. area. Other than the power outage we had a very nice stay. The onsite service was top class. There was enough wood and ice available onsite. If power outage backup facilities can be sorted, then this will make for a wonderful experience, for any nature lover!

Family get away

The location is amazing, unfortunately cleanliness is not at the top of their list. On arrival we spent 2 hours cleaning and sanitising the furniture and utensils, we had to be moved from one location to another due to this. The second location was slightly better.

Glamping

Such a beautiful, natural setting on the water's edge and the perfect getaway, a very peaceful break from the city, we loved kayaking on the Olifantsrivier. The tents were well equipped with everything we needed, the facilities were clean and well-maintained and the staff were super helpful. We lost a valuable item and they went out of their way to ensure that we didn't leave without it. We shall be making a plan to return again soon.

Weekend Getaway

We had a splendid time at the Grootfontein campsite. A great breakaway from city life and to spend quality time with family. The mountain views and crystal clear river was just breathtaking. 
The facilities were well equipped and clean.
Denmore and Sheldon were both super helpful.  Will definitely return and try more activities.
