the place is so tired and needs a lot of attention it is listed as a 4 star hotel it is not even 2 stars. the showers are dirty , some rooms have fans that do not work, toilet roll holders are broken, shortage of shower caps door locks on tents dont work. A big issue is there are no lights to the tents at night and it is very dark and we go lost. Reception closes early so had to call a guest to help. the pathway just ends and no lights. Some chalets have broken windows. It was such a pity as we went with a company group were promised a drumming session did not happen were promised a dinner in the boma did not happen and it wasnt the weather.  there is no game at all to see except some buck around the lodge. The ranger was more of a driver knew nothing about flora and fauna.
The food was fresh and tasty. The breakfast could have done with some cheese and a fresh pastry or two. 
The dining room staff were friendly and efficient.
We were there pre covid and  it need some help now housekeeping is poor .

4 star rating is a scam

We wanted to stay at Mangwa Vallet because we had stayed there before. Due to a wedding and office function, the only available accommodation was in the 6-sleeper luxury rooms. We paid for all the rooms even although we were only 2 people. This was fortunate because we used all 3 rooms - 1 for sleeping, 1 for dressing and 1 for showering. Only the sleeping room had an air conditioner, but the shower wouln't drain away. The dressing unit shower was the same. Only one room's shower drained properly. Unfortunately the key for that room did not open the front door, so we used the bedroom sliding doors as access. There were further drainage issues in the lounge/kitchen boma. Staff tried to repair this whilst we would have liked to relax in that area in the afternoon. We also found the kitchen a little dirty, with no washing-up liquid and a fridge that was in poor condition. Fortunately, the lodge was very nice. The chef must be complimented for his wonderful meals. Mangwa is close to all amenities in Dinokeng, but I don't think that I would stay there again unless the rooms were in better condition.

Weekend at Mangwa Valley

Simple but clean accommodation, simple but good food. The breakfast was also good. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We booked the game drives through another hotel. Unfortunately it was New Year's Eve and other hotel guests were making a lot of noise. But it was still ok. I can recommend the hotel. Price performance is right.

We had a fantastic stay. We were there with our children (14 and 16 years old) for 6 days, including Christmas. Our daughter turned 14 on December 23rd. We asked if they could bake a cake, that was no problem. After dinner they came with cake, drums and singing. She will never forget this birthday.

We had rented two luxury tents with a view of game. The people are intensely friendly and helpful, the food is delicious. From Mangwa it is a few minutes' drive to Dinokeng. If the children didn't feel like going to Dinokeng, they stayed by the pool and WiFi ;).

It was so great!

I have stayed at Mangwa several times in the past, always been a good experience. The wildlife is great, the facilities are adequate, the food is nice and the staff, for the most part, are helpful.

I thought it would be nice to spend the last few days of December and see 2024 together with my family (Wife and 2y/o), I was wrong.

Everyone expects New Years to get a bit rowdy, but we are in the bush, there is still etiquette. Or so I thought.

I was in one of 5 rooms,  with 3 Chalets in front. Everyone had been respectful leading up to New Years, but then one group unfortunately arrived in the last Chalet. They began blasting their music. Ok, I thought, its New Years, they are having a bit of a party. The party went on until after 3am with no break in the music.

Finally, some peace, maybe my family can catch up on lost sleep. Nope, 7am rolls around and the Chalet starts up again.
By 11ish I call reception to complain, my son cant even sleep. The Chalet turns the music down (Not off).

About an hour later, they start blasting again, waking up my son. Second complaint.
Chalet gets a visit from reception and are asked to be respectful. Didnt work.

Turns out, instead of banning the music, the group was given permission to blast their music in the COMMUNAL AREA to move them away from the Rooms and Chalets. Yes, that was the solution. So now you can hear the blaring music all the way from the rooms, to reception and everything in between. Third or fourth complaint, at this stage I'm just farting against thunder.

Go to reception and ask for "management". The guy shows up and I ask him why the rooms are being reallocated to tents to get away from the noise, instead of the noise being banned. No real answer provided.

I ask for the music to be stopped, I am countered with an offer to downgrade to a Tent. No thanks. Ok, says "management", we will keep you in the room.

So either I stay in the noise, or I downgrade? Obviously I dont accept the tent, so I ask for a refund. "OK".

Ok? So basically, "management" is happy to refund paying guests, losing business (I ran a bar tab too) instead of enforcing THEIR OWN RULES?

Pro tip: If you want the whole lodge to yourself, just be as loud and disrespectful as possible and management will reward you by emptying out the area around you!

Wouldve been a great stay, but Management told me to Fit in, or Leave!

Booked a surprise weekend getaway for my husband.he loved everything about the place.the food,relaxing and the spa was excellent,please add the Pedi and Meni...Room turndown was too simple,please make it more woww with more roses and chocolates.we had an awesome time.

Great place to relax

I really loved this place, the food was the highlight and they also offer a number of affordable activities. The staff is very friendly and professional. The 2 sleeper rooms are close and one can hear what’s happening in the next rooms, which isn’t ideal, at all.

please consider having another pool next to the chalets, it will definitely be a convenience. other than that we really enjoyed or stay felt like home and the reception service was the best...shout out to Proxy and team

Mangwa New Years Eve

The area is peaceful and have very beautiful views. The service from the staff is amazing and they are very friendly. The food was delicious. I highly recommend it and will be definitely returning for a longer visit
