I contacted the owner and requested accommodation for 2 months. The owner requested a deposit equal to one months rent of R8500. Although we were only staying for 2 months I paid the deposit and subsequent monthly rentals before the end of each month. When we vacated the unit after 2 months the owners managing agent inspected the unit and was happy to refund deposit. It has now been a month since we moved out and despite numerous messages to the owner I have not been refunded my deposit. The owner has ignored me as well as the managing agents requests to owner to refund deposit. In my opinion, unless the owner has a valid reason to withhold my deposit, this behavior is completely dishonest.
Also the DSTV never worked, the Wi Fi was off more than on, the unit needs maintenance etc etc.

DO NOT PAY A DEPOSIT

Very little effort would have made this better. Fixing the blind in the ground floor bedroom which is the one most needing privacy, better signage to the front door which was confusing, dustbins in the bedrooms or en-suite bathrooms, taps not turned so tight they could barely be opened, if the manager knew a kettle was missing why not find out which unit and sort it out before the guests arrived and cleanliness- are the maids ever checked? There were empty chip packets in cupboards and a mess behind the sofa when we moved it to get closer to the fire.

Treelands Abbey unit 6

The location of the Estate is perfect. Close to town. The room has all the necessary self catering needs. Place to make a fire/ braai as well. There are loads of little restaurants in town for a great breakfast 

Beautiful place

Very good over all Thank you. Although I missed a curtain or blind at the bathroom window & extra bathroom mat. Beautiful surroundings. We slept very well. Nicely situated. Maybe a light will help for loadshedding candles can be dangerous especially unattended. But I love it when came back in the dark and someone left a light on for us, that was thought full. Thanks it was a lekker stay.

The cottage was clean but needs a serious upgrade. The furniture etc is outdated,the bathroom old fashioned.No warning regarding load shedding,sitting in the dark with no water.The stay was definitely not worth  
R 1350 as there are much better accommodation available for more or less  the same price. 

Our stay

The downstairs bedroom had to be used with a wet bed because the water from the shower in the bedroom above was leaking. Obviously then we realised that the shower also could not be used. I did phone Kaj and informed him of the problem. We paid a lot of money for a poor unit and we are very disappointed. Will not stay there again and will not recommend friends to stay there.

Premises old would suggest upgrade required.  Gate motor not working, needed to use a lock to get in and out.  Mattresses not up to standard.  Furniture old and damaged.  House very dark.  Could not use some appliances as power cable do not reach the wall plugs.  Some rooms with no cupboard to store clothes.

Treeland Estate Castle

Third stay there but something has changed. Issues since the beginning, manager not reachable by phone, no answers to messages, former manager reachable, kind but not anymore in charge. Owner contacted twice, no answer neither. Bad user experience eventually..review o. TripAdvisor 2 weeks after the stay, just to give a chance to get explanations , or better, apologize...it is sad

Haunted castle???

We stayed 2 nights at Treelands Castle. We specifically needed  three bedroom accomodation. Pictures on website were misleading. Rooms (especially the 2 back rooms) were very tiny, There were no cupboards in any of the rooms just rails to hang clothes. No 2 point plugs in walls for bedside lamps (we used our own). Back room double matress was very uncomfortable. Could not use the dishwasher as the power cord was not long enough to reach a power outlet. Wifi password was incorrect. Loadshedding made it an extremely dark uncomfortable house to stay in.
