Great room for the price. Stayed for one night - situated at start of main street. Couldn’t fault it for the price. Lovely big bed and well equipped. Parking on site so really easy. Friendly welcoming staff really helpful. position really good for exploring area and no need to drive to have a meal or drink in the evening.

Comfortable and clean

I have travelled to a lot of places over the last 20 years or so. I have written a couple of positive reviews but have never felt the urge to write a negative one. This place has changed that. 
It has been an extremely unpleasant experience. 
From battling to get the place booked in the first place to arriving with only three instead of five booked rooms available. 
Despite countless emails and phone calls, we have still not been reimbursed. 
Please avoid this place at all costs!

A decent price for what you get and very centralized location makes it a great base camp. 

The parking area is not fenced in and you need to rely on the other holiday makers to lick the front entrance door to ensure everyone is safe. 

We stayed for 1 night and was good.

Clean and sufficient

I did not end up staying here, but I wanted to warn everyone about this place.

I booked for 5 individuals for one night. It was not clear how many beds there were, so I asked. They confirmed there were only two beds, and that I would have to book extra rooms if I wanted enough room for 5 people. I pointed out that my booking, which I paid in full, was for 5 people. I asked them to cancel the booking if they could not accommodate. They refused and insisted I do so. I told them I could not cancel, as I would have to pay 50% of the rate due to the policy. Over several messages, they simply continued to refuse to cancel the booking. I eventually had to contact the booking company to investigate and they forced them to cancel.

They will take your money and not give you what you paid for. Avoid!

Shocking customer service - avoid!

Enjoyed our short stay at this guesthouse. It's not trying to be one of the fancy hotels but is very central (just off the end of the main street) and very good value for money. It doesn't come with breakfast but does have a good kitchen area and is a minute from a supermarket so would be a good base for a longer stay. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. Wifi good.

We walked to a couple of the wineries (I think most people would have taken the wine tram or bike hire place round the corner but we like a walk) and generally had a good time.

A bit of a find for the centre of Franschoek

Nice small place. Very clean and quiet. Excellent beds and good wifi and service nothing to complain.  Nothing fancy but excellent value for the money.  Had booked for a family room but we were given two rooms.

Great value for the money

Stayed here with a large family group. daughter and hubby plus two grandchildren ,son, And two inlaws plus wife and myself . rooms were ok ,nothing supplied that was a luxury. and first room that daughter got was very unsuitable she did not feel safe. Even though we had to leave a day early and rooms were re let straight away no discount was allowed ,a bit mean.

A bit on the mean side

In a town known for extravagant prices and tourism ripoffs, this lodge is a welcome highlight.

I love going to the area, as the beauty of the winelands recharge my energylevels. De Ville lodge is a self catering lodge in town. Franschhoek is quite small, so everything in town is within walking distance from the lodge, meaning one can enjoy the wines and other beverages on offer without having to drive or worry about parking.

The room itself is well furnished, with microwave, (stocked) fridge, kettle and even a convection plate. The bed is huge, comfy and the linnen crisp and clean. The bathroom is spacious with a fancy lighted mirror and very good shower (proper Hans Grohe showerhead fitted).

The room has a very efficient aircon, making nights a pleasure over the very hot December period when we visited.

I was extremely impressed with the ease of booking, the quality and convenience of the room, and especially with the price- real value for money.

I will definitely make use of De Ville Lodge every time I visit Franschhoek again.

Excellent stay, great value for money

De Ville Lodge is ideally situated to explore on foot Franschoeks main road of bars and restuarants. The room has no views, only a sky light window. The rooms are very nicely decorated but found it very hot even though we had a superb fan. The rooms are designed for a self catering experience as opposed to a hotel room. There was a small well stocked fridge, plus cooking facilities, ie kettle, toaster microwave etc. We would of liked a safe in the room!
