Our experience was unforgettable. The kind thoughtfulness of the hotel manager and the wild nature of the Chisomo Camp made the stay truly incredible. I would suggest the place to anyone who wants to experience a true African "explorer" adventure.

Chisomo is the stuff of dreams

Amazing place & experience. Beautiful location and tented rooms with monkeys and warthogs everywhere! Excellent game drives and knowledgeable & fun guides & trackers. We saw lots of animals up close and personal!

Blown away

The tents at Chisomo were beautiful and clean. The beds were comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Extra attention was taken for safety for evening time with the animals around. Lovely place to stay. Our guides on our game drive were fantastic - Thank you Jack and Earnest for your expertise and the fun. You made our trip unforgettable. We cannot wait to come back.

Amazing Accommodations and guides

Staying here was the highlight of our trip to South Africa. From the moment we arrived, everything was well thought-through and the staff super helpful. 

SPA - We used the spa facilities and the massage was amazing - very professional and great value for money. I had a 90 minute wood massage and I didn’t want it to end, the products smelt lovely and the pressure was perfect. 

GLUTEN FREE & VEGETARIAN - At mealtimes, Gluten Free and Vegetarian food was provided which took away the stress of mealtimes. The management team always made sure we had something to eat and had Gluten Free bread to one side for us. 

GAME DRIVE - The game drives were fun and we were lucky enough to encounter lots of animals, including cheetah, leapords, white rhino and lion. The guides were very informative and there was never a time we felt unsafe. We were given hot water bottles for the early morning game drive (it gets chilly) and blankets to keep us warm. The early start was definitely worth it. 

ROOMS  - This really was ‘glamping’ and the accommodation was brilliant. The rooms were clean at all time and they made sure we were safe by escorting us to and from our tents when it was dark. There was always hot water and the beds even had heated blankets.

Thank you so much for an amazing stay! We would highly recommend to anyone wanting to do a safari. 

Highly recommended - friendly, thoughtful and clean

The safari guides and trackers were amazing and worked together to make sure everyone staying there saw all the animals. We saw cheetahs, lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and much more. The 'camp' is really luxurious glamping with showers and bathrooms, chocolates and towels made into animals! The staff was so nice and food was excellent. An unexpected bonus were animals wandering through the camp - monkeys, elephants and much more. So fun to stay there - I would highly recommend to all and will try to visit again ourselves! 

Hands down, the best place to visit in South Africa!

Our honeymoon tour of South Africa also includes the safari and we find ourselves right here to do the wonderful safari at the gates of the Kruger. A place completely immersed in nature and animals. Our bungalow was adjacent to the reserve and at night we were visited by Sacoceri and limpala.. magical place with Jack, exceptional guide! Exquisite and highly prepared person about animals, plants, trees, of a frighteningly simple intelligence.

Experience to be reviewed

Quite literally the best place I’ve ever stayed, and I’d say that even if I wasn’t taking the animals and Safari into account. The food, the accommodations, and the people were all incredible. I actually wish I could have just moved in and started working there myself. And the safaris were, of course, amazing with very knowledgeable and enjoyable guides.

 For a safari in Africa you can't feed coming here and enjoying the drives in the eaely mornings and early evenings!  Our tracker and guide were excellent and found so many animals for us to see photograph and enjoy safely I can't express how much we enjoyed it.   And then you have the beautiful tents with full amenities the beautiful eating area and bar.   Everything was just top notch.   I would recommend anyone to plan a stay here if you're in Africa on safari.

A must stop!

Chisomo far exceeded my expectations. 

From the moment our group landed at the check in area, we were warmly greeted by our host, Rienie, and she directed us regarding our check in and getting to our rooms. She was all smiles and I couldn't possibly say enough about how well we were treated.

Our hut/lodge/place to sleep was a first class canvas abode, raised above the ground. The lodgings I saw, including ours, were well separate units. The bed was super comfortable; the bathroom with shower was spectacular and luxurious; there was a safe in the room; I remember a dresser, a closet with hangers, and flaps you could roll down over the screens in this canvas glamping paradise.

At night, we were provided with a guide to take us to our hut because of the wild animals that might be roaming around. The only animals I saw in the camp were impala, nyala, and monkeys.

The eating area was spacious, open-air, and the food was always buffet style and delicious. There were always enough options to satisfy any reasonable human, and they had beer, wine etc. too. Meals sometimes started with a soup.

There was a spa located in the next camp, just beyond the pool. Yes. There was a spa and pool. Those were unexpected and lovely. I had a massage and it was excellent!

On mornings when we were headed out for our game drive early (like 5AM), there were always rusks, coffee, and juice at a minimum, plus more breakfast stuff waiting when we returned. I felt very well looked after and well-fed.

The camp is in the middle of the Karongwe Private Game Reserve, so access to the game drives is as easy as walking to the entrance of the camp. They even had raised platforms to assist less mobile people in boarding the vehicles.

In addition to the camp being super nice, the staff really pushed it up to the next level. They were all very helpful and kind. Our hostess that greeted us was super helpful and pretty much always available.

One final note: there was one particularly challenging individual traveling in our group. She was, to put it mildly, nasty to the staff at Chisomo as well as others. The staff was great at dealing with her; listening to her unfounded complaints and generally abrasive and borderline abusive manner. I happened upon a couple of these interactions and was particularly impressed with their composure. Many would have simply lost it. They did not. They all deserve a commendation for their restraint, especially Rienie.

Best Staff Ever. Excellent Experience All-around

The lodge is exactly what I expected. I didn't want to be in a luxurious hotel, but in a well-equipped and secure tent, just like the ones you can find in this facility. The lodge itself is an experience, you can find animals roaming between the facilities. Great all meals (pre-safari snack at dawn, breakfast at 9 am after the safari, lunch and post-safari afternoon dinner).
