3 star hotel, paid for 5 star.  Only the view is 5 star.  Chairs on balacony rotten, beds hard as rock, old dated room furniture, no info booklet, had to ask for wifi code and tv had no reception. They tried to fix it but reception very poor. Limited dstv channels!!!  Will def never stay here again.  Personnel was friendly but this does not make up for the total dissapointment.  Guest house needs urgent attention.

No 5 star as advertised

Ocean 11 is beautifully located on the sea walk in this super resort. From the back garnet, you can take the superb path in both directions, east right past the main part of town. The Guest House has approx 12 large rooms, almost all with sea views and balconies. It is a little old- fashioned in style, but that is not a criticism. Big public rooms, with the excellent breakfast served in a very pleasant dining room overlooking the sea and the pool. 
The pool area would benefit from a few extra, more modern, sun beds but that is a minor criticism. Rooms are very comfortable and large and parking is extensive in the secure gardens. Very helpful and pleasant staff, eager to help as required.

Very comfortable and spacious guest house in terrific location.

Having just read the recent reviews, I wonder how recent they are.  The people who wrote the reviews must have been very unlucky or they are old, the reviews, not the people. We had absolutely no issues with the guest house (apart from the fact that black out curtains would be a good idea)!
We were fortunate to be upgraded to a suite on the upper floor and the views were spectacular.  Sadly no whales but it was late November.  Breakfasts were more than adequate
The position was excellent with access to the coastal path and was in  easy reach of the town and the new harbour.
We would recommend the guest house.

Great View and comfortable room.

We visited this guest house on our garden route. What a disappointment it was. It is certainly not 5 star; at the very best I would give it 3 stars with a good view. It is dated; grubby and in serious need of updating. When we stayed there was load shedding occurring; all of the other guest houses we stayed in had generators to over come this problem (as do all of the restaurants). This guest house had no such facility; instead you simply have 4 hours of the day without any electricity or air conditioning.

Do yourself a favour - don’t waste your money and stay somewhere else

3 star at best

Oh dear, this place was so disappointing. I would certainly not recommend it.
It was awarded one of the 20 best views in the world a few years ago, but although the ocean views are great, they are the same views enjoyed by dozens of other hotels and guest houses in Hermanus!
We started in room 4. There was foul smell of damp and drains in the bathroom. An electric air freshener device was installed under the basin but this only kept me awake due to emitting a spray about every 15 minutes. The room was noisy and just opposite reception. A review in October had exactly the same problems and yet nothing seems to have been done.
Next day we insisted on moving rooms and changed to room 2. There was no smell, but above the shower the ceiling was covered in mildew and the plaster was bubbling - no doubt due to a longstanding leak in the bathroom above.
The whole place looked tired and in need of major refurbishment. The woodwork and walls were poorly painted, the doors and windows were of very poor quality and poorly fitting. The pool was filthy and remained so for our 3 night stay.
The “new” section looked as though it had been built in the last 10-15 years, but with very low spec materials and poor workmanship. Some of the furniture looked as though it was made of chipboard and poorly painted.
In room 4 there was cheap laminate flooring that needed replacing as joints were opening up.
The towels were of poor quality, felt damp and smelled as though they had been washed in pond water.
I could go on with other examples, but management need to take some urgent action and spend some money to improve things.
On a positive note the breakfasts were good and the position, overlooking the ocean was impressive. 
Regrettably, by mid November the whales seemed to have all gone.

So disappointing. Needs major refurbishment 

Having read the hotel website and reviews it was our guest house of choice. On arrival I felt I had got a different place with the same name, the only similarity was the outstanding view. 
Damp, smelly room and jaded, worn decoration, it has seen better days!
The staff however are friendly and the breakfasts great. 
Comfortable, safe walk in the evenings for dinner.
I can’t recommend it.

Relying on memories 

Everything thing about this about this guesthouse is off a high stranded from the welcome we received on arrival the accommodation is superb food was excellent  and the views fabulous.
the only reason I have not given this guesthouse 5 out of 5 is that later on our trip we stayed somewhere even more spectacular.

First class guest house in Hermanus

We stayed in a room upstairs that had a breathtaking view! and that was very comfortable, nicely decorated and had a terrace with the same wonderful view. The coffee station included some treats we loved. The breakfast was excellent, cold buffet was very nice and a hot meal was also offered a la carte.

The staff was great and really helpful, they even offered to make bookings for our meals in town. Many great restaurants are a short stroll away, but my favorite part was the cliff trail that passed right in front of the place. Our whale watching activity was also coordinated with the hotel staff, so overall we did not have to stress over anything -they even offered an early breakfast to accommodate our activity!

Hope next time we stay longer!

Ideal place for a peaceful yet fun stay

I can’t say enough good things about our stay here. The views are absolutely incredible, the food is outstanding and the staff are incredible. I ordered eggs Benedict for breakfast this morning and they were out of English muffins. I said a piece of white toast would be acceptable, but somebody went to the shop to purchase English muffins instead.  You don’t get that level of service in any other place I’ve stayed. Hermanas is definitely a place worth visiting and you owe it to yourself to stay here. It’s a short walk from the shops and restaurants along either the cliff path or the main road. Locals advised against using the cliff path while carrying valuables in the early morning or evening due to crime, but during the day we felt perfectly safe doing so. Sitting on the balcony watching the ocean is one of the best experiences you could hope for. We even managed to see some whales from our cushy location up there. I only wish we could have stayed here longer. 

The worst part was having to leave 

This was an odd one as we arrived expecting a luxury guest house. The room we had (RM2) was dark and cold with no view - we were eventually moved to a better room with a view and I think that you should make sure your room has a view as that certainly tainted our experience. We asked for a drink in the lounge and the guy went to our rooms and used our mini bar in order to serve a drink so that was a bit odd. Note that if you have a glass of wine from the mini bar they charge you for the whole bottle.
The location is amazing we watch whales from the pool and the staff were really lovely, helpful and friendly. Overall I think it needs a bit of a service update and a better bar service.
